Luke Bryan and Tim Tebow are having a little friendly competition ahead of Saturday’s Florida/Georgia game.
The country superstar, who happens to be a life-long Georgia Bulldogs fan, took to Instagram on Wednesday (Nov. 4) to show off Tebow’s Heisman Trophy and explain his plan to put a “curse” on the Florida Gators.
“I’ve got a fun week in store for you because it’s Georgia/Florida week,” Bryan said in the video clip.
The “Down To One” singer goes on to explain that he and his wife Caroline got their hands on the trophy after Tebow put it up for auction last year at the couple’s Red Bird Games benefiting the Brett Boyer Foundation. The foundation was created in honor of their niece, Brett, who was diagnosed prenatally with Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect (CHD) and sadly lost her life at just 7 months old. Caroline bid on the trophy and won the right to have it for six months and Tebow conveniently delivered it a few days before the big rival game.
“Tim somehow delivered it last week, the week before the Georgia/Florida game,” Bryan explained. “I feel it was an effort to bring bad mojo into my household, so ladies and gentlemen just to let you know there’s Tim’s Heisman just to prove you guys he made good on his promise… but I’ve got this all week to put a curse on the Florida Gators.”
Bryan told fans to stay tuned to Instagram throughout the week as they plan to use this time to support the Brett Boyer Foundation as well as the Tim Tebow Foundation.
“Tune in to our stories to watch us cheer on our favorite college teams and highlight our charities,” he captioned the post. “Go Dawgs!”
The Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs will face off on Saturday, November 7 at 3:30 p.m. at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville.
