Luke Bryan has been forced to postpone the Chesapeake, Virginia stop of his 15th Farm Tour “due to the large amounts of rain at the farm” that took place this week.
The superstar announced the news to fans late Thursday in a social media statement, sharing that the show, originally scheduled for Friday, September 20 at Heritage Park, has been moved to Sunday, September 22.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience but we want to keep y’all safe,” he wrote. “See y’all out on the farm.”
According to Accuweather.com, a “tropical rainstorm” impacted the East Coast this week, leaving parts of the Carolinas and Virginia with an “ongoing dangerous flooding risk.”
Chesapeake’s local news outlet WAVY reported that the area received “several inches” of rain, leaving the concert venue’s fields muddy, which caused the event to be postponed.
Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour officially kicked off on Thursday evening (September 19) in Grantville, Pennsylvania. The first show took place at Bow Creek Farm & Cattle CO.
The Farm Tour will continue on Saturday, September 21 in Marshville, North Carolina and will make its way to Chesapeake, Virginia for the rescheduled show on Sunday, September 22.
Next week, the Farm Tour will make stops in Shelbyville, Kentucky (September 26), Millersport, Ohio (September 27), and Smithton, Pennsylvania (September 28). For ticketing information, visit Luke Bryan’s official website.
Joining the Georgia native on this year’s Farm Tour are Conner Smith, Tucker Wetmore, the Peach Pickers (hit songwriters Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Hayslip), and DJ Rock.
Since its start in 2009, the Farm Tour has attracted thousands of fans to farms nationwide. Coming from a farming family himself, Bryan is committed to supporting farming families by offering college scholarships to students from farming backgrounds attending local colleges or universities during the tour stops. To date, 83 scholarships have been awarded.
Additionally, through a partnership with Bayer, Bryan formed the Here’s to the Farmer initiative, benefitting Feeding America. This campaign celebrates American farmers for their role in supplying essential nutrition to people nationwide and globally. Now through October 31, 2024, fans can show their support on social media platforms by using #HeresToThe Farmer. To date, this initiative has helped provide more than 8 million meals to individuals facing hunger through the Feeding America® network of food banks.
“The beauty of Farm Tour is we’re out there on the farm. We’re helping people feed Americans. We’re giving out scholarships. You’ve got 20,000 people piling into an alfalfa field, corn field, hay field, it doesn’t matter. It’s a field. But when you put that many people out there in the Fall where the temps are kinda getting a little cool at night, nothing is more special than Farm Tour and that’s why I keep doing it year after year,” Bryan previously shared in a statement.
Along with providing scholarships and meals to those in need, the Farm Tour has supported the National FFA Organization through a partnership with Fendt. For the past two years, Bryan teamed up with the brand to create Luke Bryan’s Boldly Grown Popcorn and Boldly Grown Peanuts. These limited-edition snacks sold out quickly, and Fendt donated $75,000 to the FFA as part of the collaboration.
In the midst of the Farm Tour, Luke Bryan will release his brand new album, Mind Of A Country Boy. The 14-track project serves as his eighth studio album and is the follow-up to 2020’s Born Here, Live Here, Die Here. Mind Of A Country Boy arrives on September 27.
