On the morning of Friday, Sept. 20, the southern rock trio made up of Nashville natives Johnston, Neil Mason, and Kelby Ray took to social media to share important details with their fans. The post offers full transparency as they reveal Johnson has started treatment for his “mental health & well-being.”
“The last few years have been challenging on a number of levels. The right thing to do right now is to make space to focus on family, health, and longevity. With this news, our remaining 2024 shows will be canceled.”
Their message goes on to express the utmost love for their community of fans as they acknowledge that canceling shows “is not something we take lightly.”

Any ticketholders should contact their point of purchase to receive refunds for any of The Cadillac Three’s upcoming headline shows.
This news comes just a few days after the band posted that they would be canceling this week’s shows “due to illness.” The new statement reveals that the cancelations have been extended to all remaining shows for the foreseeable future to ensure that Johnson can put his health first.
Jaren Johnson’s Work As A Hit Songwriter
Outside of The Cadillac Three, Johnston is a hit songwriter known for songs such as “Beachin’” by Jake Owen, “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” by Tim McGraw featuring Faith Hill, “Raise ‘Em Up” by Keith Urban, and more. He most recently received a cut on Miranda Lambert’s Postcards From Texas album, “Bitch On The Sauce (Just Drunk).” In addition to his music career, the 43-year-old is a husband to his wife, Evyn Mustoe Johnston, and a father to their 7-year-old son, Jude Daniel Johnston.
The band, originally known as The Cadillac Black, has spent more than a decade touring and making music that highlights their signature blend of authentic country music storytelling and rock ‘n’ roll energy, which they have dubbed as their “Country Fuzz” sound. It all started when the three artists formed a friendship in high school and created a band that highlights each of their talents with Johnson as the singer/guitarist, Ray on steel and bass and Mason on drums.
They have dropped six studio albums that have racked up ACM and CMA International Achievement nominations. Their latest album, The Years Go Fast, was released in late 2023 and features 12 tracks that explore themes of love and loss.
Upcoming Collaboration With Brooks & Dunn
On November 15, fans will hear The Cadillac Three on Brooks and Dunn’s just-announced collaboration project, REBOOT 2. This collection serves as the sequel to 2019’s REBOOT and once again taps a slew of new artists to help record reimagined versions of some of the duo’s biggest songs. Among the other stars featured on the track list are Lainey Wilson, Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Riley Green, Megan Moroney, HARDY, ERNEST, Corey Kent, and more.
“Excited to be a part of this project with @brooksanddunn and these other badass artists 🤘 Can’t wait for y’all to hear “She Likes to Get Out of Town” on Reboot II, out November 15,” they wrote in a recent post alongside the hitmaking duo.
Any future updates regarding the band’s return to the stage will be shared via social media.
