Rising country star Mackenzie Carpenter is sharing a new side of her artistry with a vulnerable new love song titled “Only Girl.”

The ballad invites listeners into a personal look at the singer-songwriter’s love life, as the song was written about her relationship with her now-husband, Cole, and was even used in her wedding video following her October 2023 nuptials.

While this song is bit different than anything she’s released so far, Carpenter explained that song was special to her as it was written from the heart. Penned alongside her brother, Micah Carpenter, as well as Mia Mantia, and SJ McDonald, the track tells the beautiful story of the love she receives from her husband.

“Don’t get me wrong, I love writing songs about topics all across the map, from heartbreak, to best friends, to a good ole fashion country murder song,” Carpenter shared in a statement. “But this one I wrote about a man I’m so thankful to have found, one that truly loves me like I’m the only girl in the whole world. I hope everyone finds someone that makes them feel that way!”

Carpenter opens the song with a vulnerable few lines, “He sings me like his favorite song on the radio/He fits me like the perfect pair of old blue jeans/Every kiss is like a wildfire, it gets me higher than heaven/God, help me.”

She continues to build on those earnest emotions going into the chorus, “He looks at me like the only star in his sky/He holds me tight like he’ll never say goodbye/And I know there’s millions and billions of people/Living in this world/But he loves me like I’m the only girl.”

Accompanying the song is a heartfelt music video featuring Mackenzie and her husband on a backyard date night and slow dancing in the glow of a pickup truck’s headlights. Check it out above.

In addition to writing and recording her own music, Carpenter is also a gifted songwriter and has three cuts on the just-released Megan Moroney album, Am I Okay?. Carpenter, who also had cuts on Moroney’s debut album, shared her excitement on social media on release day.

“So freakin thankful to be a part of these songs & this record!!!! we wrote all 3 songs on December 17 last year – a dang good day,” she shared, adding, “Happy release day Megan Moroney.”

Mackenzie Carpenter’s previous releases include the TikTok viral “Huntin’ Season,” the girl’s girl anthem, “Don’t Mess With Exes,” and her take on the Cyndi Lauper classing, “Country Girls (Just Wanna Have Fun).”
