Warren Zeiders recently unveiled plans to release his sophomore project Relapse, on August 23 via Warner Records.

Produced by Mike Elizondo, the project is described as “a sonic exploration of his signature country-rock growl, while also offering more story-driven, acoustic vocals.” Among the 10 tracks are previously released singles, “Betrayal” and the title track “Relapse,” which has already amassed more than 15.2M US streams since its June release.

Just hours before announcing the news of his forthcoming project, Zeiders shared another early look with his newest song, “Addictions.” Penned by Zeiders, Rivers Rutherford and Alex Maxwell, this introspective tune puts Zeiders in an incredibly vulnerable state as he acknowledges the painful effects that his battle with addiction has had on his heart.

“How you been, my old friend/ Guess you wouldn’t be surprised to find I’m high again/ It’s been tough living with out you but/ It gets easy when that buzz starts kicking in,” he sings on the opening verse.

The country singer’s haunting vocals echo amid the intricate guitar strums which help guide the listener through the narrative that despite his incredible desire to choose love, he realizes it’s no match for the power of addiction.

He continues on the chorus, “There’s a Heaven in this hell that I’m chasing/ Like a coyote howling lonesome at the moon/ There’s a truth in all that pain I ain’t facing/ Guess that’s why I do the things I do/ I’m choosing my addictions over you.”

Relapse will follow Zeiders’ acclaimed 2023 debut album Pretty Little Poison, which earned him his first No. 1 single on country radio for the double-platinum title track. The fan-favorite tune peaked in the Top 25 on Billboard’s Top 100, earned 380M global streams, and won the CMT Award for “Breakthrough Male Video of the Year.”
