Madeline Merlo recently turned heads with the release of her steamy “Kiss Kiss” music video and this week, she’s taking over our playlist to share some of her all-time favorite songs as well as songs that helped shape her career.
The singer/songwriter hand-picked some of her most-listened-to tracks for this week’s playlist, including “7 Summers” by Morgan Wallen, “Lady Like” by Ingrid Andress and “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” by Riley Green. She even included a few throwbacks, like Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson’s version of “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” and Bobbie Gentry’s “Ode To Billie Joe.”
“These are songs I love, old and new, that have shaped me, saved me and make me feel so proud to be a part of the best genre in the world,” Merlo explains.

Madeline Merlo, who has already made a name for herself in Canada, caught the attention of U.S. fans when she won the recent season premiere of NBC’s Songland. She co-wrote the song “Champagne Night,” which was chosen by Grammy-winning group Lady A and then released to country radio.

Lauren Jo Black is a longtime country music journalist, editor, host, and media personality whose work has helped shape the conversation around country music for nearly two decades. She has covered Luke Bryan since the early days of his career, beginning when he was writing songs for other artists, including Billy Currington’s No. 1 hit “Good Directions,” before stepping into the spotlight with his debut single, “All My Friends Say” and eventually becoming one of biggest names in music. She also gave Megan Moroney her first opportunity to walk a major red carpet as Country Now’s official guest correspondent at the 2022 CMA Awards.
