Megan Moroney Says Being Single Has Given Her A ‘Clear Head’ During Her Biggest Tour Yet

Megan Moroney is enjoying one of the biggest moments of her career as she headlines her first arena tour. While the sold-out crowds have made the experience unforgettable, the singer admits there’s another reason this chapter has been especially rewarding.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the country star revealed that the Cloud 9 Tour is one of the first times she’s hit the road while single, giving her the freedom to fully embrace the experience without any outside distractions.

“There have been a lot of big moments and fun times that have been ruined by a guy for me. It’s nice to just have a clear head. I’m learning what I like and what I don’t like and what my goals are,” she shared.

Moroney also shared that this chapter has brought a new level of focus and discipline to her life, giving her the chance to establish healthy routines. However, once the tour ends in the fall and she returns from her Europe dates, the “Medicine” singer admits she’s not opposed to being “on the prowl again.”

“Yeah, it’ll be fall. It’ll be cuffing season, but right now, it’s been so nice to have my friends and family out [with me] and that not be an aspect of my life that is any sort of problem for me.”

Looking back on a past tour, Moroney remembered quietly dealing with heartbreak, even crying before taking the stage because of a boy who stopped her from enjoying what was supposed to be an exciting moment in her life. That difficult chapter later inspired her song “Hell Of A Show.” Now, she says she’s in a much happier place, spending this tour surrounded by her close friends and of course, her new dog, Boots.

“Life is peaceful. I got a dog in February. That’s what I needed all along—no man, a dog,” she stated confidently.

The best part about being a songwriter is that when Moroney does experience difficult moments like that, she can turn them into a song and hopefully help someone else who might have gone through something similar.

In fact, she has built an entire catalog of relatable songs that her fans now scream back to her, making her concerts feel like one big therapy session. Knowing that she has helped so many fans gives the Georgia native the confidence to continue being vulnerable.

“When I get scared of putting out a song because it’s too personal, I think about how it might help somebody, because every time I’ve done it and I’ve taken the risk, people have come up to me and they’re like, ‘This song made me dump this guy’ and ‘This song is making me never want to go back to him.’ It’s just one of those things where you have to be like, ‘Fuck it. What’s the worst that could happen?’”

Fans got a heavy dose of both vulnerability and empowerment in her latest Cloud 9 album, which arrived in February.

The Cloud 9 Tour continues tonight with a stop in Iowa before heading to Minnesota on Saturday, June 25. She will close out her run of U.S. dates in mid-August and then head oversees for shows across Norway, Denmark, France, the UK and more.
