“It feels like summer, it makes you want to dance, and most of all… it makes me think of my husband,” Guyton shares of the new tune.

Mickey Guyton brought her brand-new release, “Make It Me” to life in an uplifting performance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.
Donning a tan blazer and wide-leg blue jeans, Guyton and her bandmates got the audience members up on their feet and dancing along to the love-filled tune that dropped just in time for summer. On Wednesday, June 12, the four-time, Grammy®-nominated artist made her way around the stage, showcasing her stunning vocals among the dazzling instrumentals and lighthearted narrative which she penned alongside Tyler Hubbard and Corey Crowder.
Guyton sets the tone for a bold and romantic summer as she sings, “If you wanna dance with somebody, it’s your song/ If you wanna start a fight, let me turn it on/ When the party’s ending, who you’re kissin’ in the street/ If you wanna spend the night with somebody/ Make it me.”
The new release arrived just in time for Nashville’s CMA Fest as it debuted June 7 via Capitol Records Nashville. While anyone could relate to the tender storyline, Guyton revealed it holds a special in her heart as it makes her think of her husband.
“I wrote #MakeItMe with @tylerhubbard and @coreycrowder and it’s a bop! It feels like summer, it makes you want to dance, and most of all… it makes me think of my husband. ❤️,” she shared via social media.
Sharing A Look Into The Reality Of Motherhood
While discussing the current chapter of her music career with the show’s host, Jennifer Hudson, Guyton also gave an update on motherhood and revealed that her three-year-old son Grayson has also caught the music bug.
“He’s got rhythm, something that missed me, but he’s got that. That’s something that’s new. But yeah, he loves music. He loves basketball. He’s becoming his own person,” she shared.
The Texas native also shared insight into the not-so-glamours side of life, proving that even the biggest names in the business have their fair share of humbling moments.
“I stepped in poop the other day,” she joked while discussing the joys of potty training. “Listen, it is it one of the most humbling things. You can be on the most glamorous of stages, performing at the GRAMMY’s, wearing ball gowns and all this stuff and still walk off that stage and have to change a diaper and get poop under your fingernails. That is a real.”
Despite all the highs and lows that come with balancing life on the road, a thriving music career and being a mother and wife, Guyton says “it’s so worth it.”
