Following the Oct. 2 release of Miranda Lambert’s new album, Crisco, the country star surprised fans with a new collaboration featuring fellow Texas native Parker McCollum.
The pair teamed up for a fresh take on Rosanne Cash’s 1981 hit “Seven Year Ache,” offering a version that celebrates the timelessness of the classic song while also adding a touch of the country-disco flair that Lambert has been exploring in this chapter of her career. The just-dropped track is available exclusively when fans download Crisco on iTunes, now through 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 8.
“To me this song fits right in the sweet spot of the country-disco sound and I love any excuse to sing with Parker McCollum” Lambert admitted on social media.

Lambert and McCollum’s distinct styles unite effortlessly depict the story of someone who is struggling to come out of the pain of a failed relationship by spending nights out at bars and looking for distractions rather than confronting what they’re feeling.
They sing, “Just tell ’em you’re trying to cure a seven-year ache/ See what else your old heart can take/ Boys say, ‘When is he gonna give us some room’/ But the girls say, ‘God, I hope he comes back soon’.”
This collaboration marked yet another opportunity for Lambert to work alongside McCollum, someone she has already joined forces with on past occasions and projects. The two previously collaborated on “Santa Fe” from Lambert’s Postcards From Texas and have performed together several times, including the 2025 “Band Together Texas” benefit concert which raised over $8.5 million for flood relief efforts in their home state.
“I love making music with Parker because he’s the real deal,” said Lambert. “He’s such a natural artist and has that thing you can’t teach. He is authentically himself and you can feel that in his music.” The “Burn It Down” singer echoed Lambert’s statement, claiming she has always been a “big inspiration to him,” as he’s watched her journey from Texas to Nashville.
“Not only is she one of the most incredible songwriters we’ve got but is also hands-down one of my favorite Country voices ever. I’m honored any time I get the chance to work with and learn from her,” he adds.
Miranda Lambert will continue celebrating Crisco tomorrow, Oct. 6, when she returns home to deliver a sold-out album release show at Billy Bob’s Texas.
