Miranda Lambert’s ACM Entertainer of the Year Win Qualifies Her For Coveted Triple Crown Award
To date, only seven artists have received the ACM Triple Crown Award.
On Monday evening, Miranda Lambert took home not one, but two, ACM Awards trophies, including the night’s top honor of Entertainer of the Year. This brings her overall ACM Awards count to 37, continuing her reign as the most celebrated artist in ACM Awards history and qualifying her for the renowned ACM Triple Crown Award.
What is the ACM Triple Crown Award?
The Triple Crown Award is awarded to an artist who has won the trophies for New Female/Male Artist of the Year, Female/Male Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year. To date, only seven artists have been awarded the Triple Crown Award: Brooks & Dunn, Barbara Mandrell, Kenny Chesney, Mickey Gilley and Merle Haggard (who each received the award in 2005), Carrie Underwood (2009) and Jason Aldean (2015).
Keith Urban and The Chicks have also qualified for the Triple Crown Award and have yet to receive the honor.
The Academy of Country Music has yet to reveal when Lambert will receive the Triple Crown Award.

Entertainer of the Year
The Texas native was unable to attend the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards as she was traveling overseas to play the C2C Festival. She did, however, accept the honor via video with an emotional speech.
“I cannot believe I’m not there to celebrate – I’m in London, I have shows this week,” Lambert said, while sporting a Fleetwood Mac t-shirt. ”It’s my first time to miss ACMs in seventeen years, so my heart is a little broken but I’m happy to be where I am.”
The country superstar went on to admit that she’s “been waiting for this for a really, really long time” and “actually never thought it would happen.”
“Thank you so much to the country music family for embracing me all these years and continuing to support me and the Academy for everything and my manager Marion Kraft,” Lambert continued.
Earlier in the evening, Lambert took home the award for ACM Video of the Year with Elle King for their collaboration, “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home).”
New Music on the Way
Fans are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Lambert’s yet-to-be-announced new album, which she’s been teasing on social media. Later this week, the superstar will give fans a taste of new music with the release of a new song called “Strange.”
On Wednesday, March 2, the country superstar shared a minute-long clip to YouTube of an unreleased song called “Strange.”
The YouTube video is just a photo of Lambert wearing a cowboy hat, sound tracked by the new song, which finds Lambert singing, “Couple a hundred dollars feels more like change, yeah / times like these make me feel strange / have a smoke / buy a round / get on a day liner going anywhere bound / pick a string / sing the blues / dance a hole in your shoes / do anything to keep you sane / cause times like these make me feel strange / times like these make me feel strange / Country don’t twang / Rock and roll ain’t loud / Every elevator only ever goes down / Everybody’s lookin’ for a little cheap fame / Yeah, and times like these make me feel strange.”
“Strange” follows her recently released radio single “If I Was A Cowboy,” both of which are expected to appear on her new album.
