Morgan Evans Shot His ‘Day Drunk’ Music Video In Reverse
“We shot this video in reverse which was way harder, and way more complicated, than any of us expected.”

Morgan Evans got creative with his “Day Drunk” music video by shooting the entire video in reverse.
In the just-released clip, Evans enjoys a few cocktails while taking an event-filled stroll along a beachside boardwalk. Directed by Colin Duffy and filmed in Long Beach, CA, the clip also finds Evans performing the feel-good summer anthem as onlookers cheer him on.
Fun fact: The unique video concept required Evans to learn to sing the entire song backwards!
“Day Drunk” was inspired by a date Evans once had with his wife, Kelsea Ballerini, on her birthday.
“She had come home from being on the road and I had this elaborate day planned out for the birthday,” he recalled to Entertainment Tonight. “She got home and I was like, ‘Oh, are you ready? Let’s do all these things.’ And she was like, ‘Can we just shut the front door and maybe just open a bottle of champagne and start there?’ And that’s all we did and it ended up being an awesome day.”
“I’ve never been the ‘drinking song’ guy, but this song came from a real place and is really more about spending a day with your person than it is about just going getting drunk,” Evans added. “There’s a reason why I love it so much and feel like I can sing it.”
The song follows Evans’ previous hit, “Kiss Somebody.” Both tracks are included on his debut album, Things That We Drink To. Check out the brand new music video above.
Beginning September 3, Evans will embark on his 2019 World Tour, performing 26 shows in eight countries through December 14.
