The No.1 song in country music this week is “Man Made A Bar” by Morgan Wallen featuring Eric Church.
The collaborative track reached the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay chart and Mediabase charts this week, securing Wallen’s 13th No.1 at country radio and Church’s 12th (according to country radio insider, Chris Owen).
This track appears on Wallen’s record-breaking, 36-song One Thing At A Time album and was co-written by Rocky Block, Jordan Dozzi, Larry Fleet, and Brett Tyler.
Story Behind The Song
During an interview with Country Countdown USA, Wallen recalled the moment his former tourmate, Larry Fleet, sent him the track and revealed that it was one of the last songs to make the cut for his album.
“He sent me two songs one day, and I heard that one. I was like, ‘Yep, I like that a lot.’ And I didn’t even really think about features, man. I was on such a time limit. I was trying to get the album done,” Wallen shared on air.
“So, literally, the last week, I started [being], like, ‘Whoa! Maybe I ought to get a couple of my friends on here, at least. So I hollered at Eric and was like, ‘Man, I think this is the song we should do together.’”
Lucky for Wallen, his longtime musical hero, was all-in.
“He said, ‘Absolutely,’ the East Tennessee native recalled. “So he showed up on Monday and sang it and did his thing on there,” Wallen recalled. “He absolutely crushed it. That was a cool day for me.”
Surprise CMA Awards Performance
The artists joined forces to perform “Man Made A Bar” during the CMA Awards, held in Nashville on November 8, 2023. The performance was completely unannounced, leaving fans shocked when they stepped onto the stage together.
“Man Made A Bar” is a sentimental heartbreak tune that finds the artists reflecting on life after a relationship falls to pieces. Throughout the lyrics, they acknowledge that “God made a man” and eventually made a girl “his best work of art” to keep the man from getting lonely.
Wallen and Church later point out, that God didn’t make a place for the man to go when his woman leaves him down and out, “so man madе a bar.”
Morgan Wallen’s Latest Arrest
The chart-topping news comes amid a tumultuous few weeks for Wallen, who was arrested after reportedly throwing a chair from the rooftop of Church’s new Nashville bar, Chief’s. Just after 12:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, Wallen was arrested for three counts of reckless endangerment for the two officers who were standing below the bar, as well as the danger Wallen presented to the public.
Additionally, the arrest report stated that Wallen was also charged with disorderly conduct.
His bond was set at $15,250 and he was released from the Davidson County Jail at 3:30 am. Wallen has yet to share a statement regarding the incident, however, his attorney, Worrick Robinson of Worrick Robinson Law, released a brief statement that read: “At 10:53p Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities.”
Morgan Wallen’s court date is set for May 3, which is the same date he is set to perform for the second of two nights at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium as part of his current One Night At A Time Tour.
His next scheduled appearance is set to take place on April 20 in Oxford, Mississippi.
