Nate Smith Endures A Messy Breakup In ‘Whiskey On You’ Music Video

Rising star Nate Smith released the music video for his breakout single, “Whiskey On You.”

The video for the track, which earned the up-and-comer praise for its catchy melody and clever lyrics, premiered on CMT Music and CMT.com.

The humorous music video, directed by Chris Ashlee, features TikTok creator Katie “Demps” Dempsey as Smith’s crazy ex-girlfriend. Embodying a true 90’s feel, the visual shows the singer/songwriter and his band practicing in a garage for a show at Nashville’s iconic Whiskey Jam, where he is abruptly interrupted by his ‘soon-to-be ex-girlfriend.’ The video then follows the pair’s breakup.

As the video progresses, Smith turns into a true superstar taking on the jam-packed stage with real footage from his recent performance at Whiskey Jam in Nashville.

“I am thrilled for the ‘Whiskey On You’ music video to come out!!” Smith said. “I really wanted everyone to get to know my fun side. I couldn’t have had a better costar than Demps! She absolutely crushed it and will definitely make you laugh!”

What we deemed as the breakup song of the summer, “Whiskey On You” surpassed over 7.5 million total global on-demand streams in its first week, as well as reached No. 10 on the Country On-Demand Streaming Chart. Debuting at No. 84 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 14 on the Hot Country Songs chart, this single marks Smith’s first track on the charts.
