Nate Smith’s successful reign on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart continues as his smash hit single, “World On Fire” holds the No. 1 spot for the 10th consecutive week.

Nate Smith Makes History

U.S. Radio Updater reported on X (formerly Twitter) that this feat ties Smith’s fan-favorite tune with Morgan Wallen’s “You Proof” for the “longest running all-time No.1 in Billboard Country Airplay chart history this week.” The outlet also noted that both songs are now tied for the longest-running No. 1 this decade.

Smith is now the first artist to achieve this kind of chart domination with a second single at country radio and a consecutive week run. The song also hit No. 1 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart for three weeks and has racked up over 175 million global streams to date.

This marks the second consecutive chart-topping single for Smith in just a year, following his Platinum-certified, multi-week No. 1 debut single “Whiskey On You.” According to a press release, only 19 songs went No. 1 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in 2023, two of which belong to Smith.

Who Wrote “World On Fire?”

Penned by Smith with Ashley Gorley, Lindsay Rimes, and Taylor Phillips, “World On Fire” hones in on the fire theme that has scorched through the country star’s catalog since the 2018 Camp Fire in his former home, Paradise, CA. The upbeat tune also serves as a devastating breakup anthem.

“World On Fire” appears on Smith’s six-song deluxe collection that dropped alongside his debut album, making for a total of 26 tracks. The self-titled collection hit No. 6 on Billboard’s Country albums chart and No. 30 overall on the Billboard Top 200, and spawned RIAA Gold-certified hits “Wreckage” and “Under My Skin.”

Additionally, Nate Smith (Deluxe) was dubbed the largest album debut from a new artist in 2023 and the largest full-length debut project from a new artist in 2020.

New Song “Bulletproof”

Nate Smith most recently debuted his blazing new heartbreak anthem, “Bulletproof,” which debuted at #40 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart, marking his 3rd career entry on the chart, according to U.S. Radio Updater. The fresh release also serves as the title track to his just-announced EP, Through the Smoke.

Smith explained that as soon as he heard the track penned by Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, and Hunter Phelps, he knew the epic guitar plucks and steady drumbeats of the heartbreak remedy needed to be added to his discography.

“Ashley Gorley, who is one of the co-writers on ‘World On Fire’ with me, wrote ‘Bulletproof’ and had sent it to me. I immediately loved it. I thought the beginning had a Tom Petty vibe to it and then the chorus has this massive lift. It sounded like an anthem, and I knew I wanted to cut it.”

He added, “I’ve dealt with some heartache throughout my life, and I’ve also been the deliverer of heartache to some. It’s funny because we think sometimes that alcohol is gonna make you forget the person, but often times it brings it right back up. There are so many things we can try to do to get over someone we love, but really time is the only thing that can help.”

Additionally, the song was paired with a brand-new music video that gives features a compilation of footage from Nate Smith’s most recent time on the road – from selling out renowned venues to meeting fans, hanging out with his bandmates backstage and seeing the rise in energy “Bulletproof” brings to his live shows.

When Is Nate Smith Dropping New Music?

“Bulletproof” is one of seven songs to be featured on his Through The Smoke EP, due April 5.

Nate Smith launched his World On Fire Tour on January 4 with a show in Athens, GA. The trek continues with stops in 21 major cities across the country including Chicago, Indianapolis, NYC, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Sacramento. Most recently., he played to a sold-out crowd at LA’s El Rey Theatre.

This spring and summer, Smith will also accompany Morgan Wallen on his massive ONE NIGHT AT A TIME 2024 tour.
