Parker McCollum is showing his support for Miranda Lambert in the wake of the recent controversy surrounding her Las Vegas residency.
McCollum took to Instagram to reveal that he enjoyed a night out at Lambert’s Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency, and instead of using his celebrity status to get into the show, he purchased a ticket and watched from the audience.
A True Fan
“Saw Miranda Lambert’s show in Vegas tonight. Bought a ticket, went in through the front and enjoyed the show as a true fan. Even bought some merch,” he shared.
He went on to praise his fellow Texas native for her showmanship, adding, “Absolutely remarkable performance. And an even better person. Deserves nothing but respect.”
Lambert left the internet divided this week after a video surfaced of her calling out a group of women for taking photos at her show.
She halted her heartfelt performance of “Tin Man” at the Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Casino on Saturday evening (July 15) and said, “I’m gonna stop right here for a second, I’m sorry,” Lambert said, asking her pianist to stop playing the tune. She then told the audience, “these girls [up here] are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song. It’s pissing me off a little bit. Sorry, I don’t like it. At all. We’re here to hear some country music tonight. I’m singing some country damn music.”
Lambert then asked the crowd, “Shall we start again?” before restarting her performance of “Tin Man.”
Watch
It’s no surprise that Parker McCollum came to Miranda Lambert’s defense. He is a longtime fan of Lambert and previously dubbed her “the Dolly [Parton] of our era.”
In an interview with Taste of Country Nights, Parker McCollum explained, “I call her the Dolly Parton of my generation. I think she’s a phenomenal talent. And then getting to know her, she’s such a normal, regular person when you’re around her. You’d never know she’s a superstar.”
Co-Writers
The Texas natives have had the opportunity to get to know each other through their collaborations over the past few years. In 2020, during Lambert’s Wildcard Tour, McCollum had the chance to open for her on various dates. The pair later joined forces to co-write a track on McCollum’s major label debut album, Gold Chain Cowboy. Working together in the writers’ room, they co-wrote the heartfelt single, “Falling Apart.”
While touring with the “If I Was A Cowboy” singer, McCollum recalled the best piece of advice he received from Lambert.
“She kinda has this way of seeming extremely normal while still being a mega superstar,” McCollum told ET Canada. “I haven’t been around a ton of people like that until I was on the road with her for a few shows. Always remember to be really, really sweet to people. I can remember her saying that.”
Additionally, in March of 2022, Lambert shocked McCollum ahead of the 57th Academy Of Country Music Awards when she surprised him with the news that he was named ACM New Male Artist Of The Year.
