Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins have become one of country music’s most beloved couples and now, they are inviting fans to see inside their Nashville home in an issue of House Beautiful.
Inside the publication’s August/ September 2021 issue, the country couple dishes on the details of their home’s décor, which was designed by their friend and interior designer, April Tomlin.
The cozy space was inspired the the homes of their grandparents, but with a modern touch added in.
“I really wanted it to feel like our grandparents’ homes…Their homes—and the memories made in them—are what inspired us to build a home for our family and friends,” Lauren explains.
To achieve the desired aesthetic, Tomlin incorporated a palette of “muted taupes, grays, and greens along with low-wattage lighting, unpolished brass finishes, and romantic touches” around the home.
Of the Akins’ home, Tomlin says, “There’s not a lot of unused open space. Every wall has a chair or a painting—we had to overdecorate the space to give it that intimacy.”
With three daughters at home and one on the way, Lauren understands that things won’t always be kept in pristine condition. In fact, the soon-to-be mother of four embraces the “perfectly imperfect” areas of her home.
“There are already stains on the carpets, markers on the walls, fingernail polish spilled on the wood floors, but it is a real and happy home,” she says. “I love how much love it holds.”
