Post Malone won’t release his debut country album, F-1 Trillion, until August 16, but today, the genre-bending star gave fans another preview of the highly-anticipated project with the release of “Pour Me A Drink” featuring Blake Shelton.
A Quintessential Country Party Song
The song is a quintessential country anthem celebrating the weekend ritual of escaping life’s pressures through drinking and smoking. Instead of worrying about keeping up with others, the duo opts to relax with cold drinks and simply enjoy the moment.
“Somebody pour me a drink, somebody bum me a smoke/ I’m ’bout to get on a buzz, I’m ’bout to get on a roll/ Yeah, I been breakin’ my back just keepin’ up with the Joneses/ Y’all know what I mean, and y’all know how it goes/ When it’s up on a Friday and I’m paid, slide one over my way/ I can’t even think when I can hear one callin’ my name,” they sing on the chorus.
“Pour Me A Drink” was written by Austin Post (Post Malone) with Louis Bell, Charlie Handsome, John Byron, Rocky Block, and Jordan Dozzi.
Gwen Stefani Is A “Superfan”
Post Malone and Shelton first teased the track on social media in late May, sending fans into a frenzy with the song snippet. Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, even got in on the action, revealing her excitement over the tune.
“Can’t handle this much cool and cute,” she wrote. “Superfan alert!”

CMA Fest Debut
The artists delivered the live debut of the song during CMA Fest earlier this month. Their performance is set to air during the three-hour ABC concert special, CMA Fest, on Tuesday, June 25.
It also appears that they filmed a music video for the song as Post Malone shared a video from the “set” with Shelton, however, it’s unclear when they will debut the clip.
“I Had Some Help” Tops The Charts
“Pour Me A Drink” was released on the same day that Post Malone’s addictive hit “I Had Some Help,” featuring Morgan Wallen, reached the No.1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. According to radio insider Chris Owen, the summer smash took just seven weeks to reach No.1, marking the fastest climb to the top since Garth Brooks’ “More Than A Memory,” in September of 2007. Before that, Tim McGraw’s “Live Like You Were Dying” also claimed the No.1 spot in seven weeks. According to Billboard.com, the average climb to No.1 is 33 chart weeks.

“I Had Some Help” was written by Post Malone and Wallen with Louis Bell, Ryan Vojtesak, Ashley Gorley, Ernest Keith Smith, Chandler Paul Walters, and Hoskins.
Upon its initial release to country radio, the song was added to 167 first-week stations at country radio, marking only the second time in history that a single has debuted with the support of all reporting stations (this follows Garth Brooks’ “Long Neck Bottle” which became the first to do so in 1997). It debuted on the charts at No.15 and became the second-highest debut ever, following Brooks’ “More Than A Memory” in 2007.
This marks Post Malone’s very first No.1 at country radio and Morgan Wallen’s 14th.
As the excitement surrounding Post Malone’s country career continues to reach new heights, this likely won’t be his last country chart-topper.
