Post Malone made his Grand Ole Opry debut on Wednesday (Aug. 14) with a special Opry show dubbed Post Malone & Friends at the Grand Ole Opry.

Before entering the world of country music, Malone cut his teeth recording under the genres of hip hop, pop, R&B, and trap, but he more recently began showing interest in going back to his Texas roots and rediscovering the music he grew up on. He has already had a promising start to his new venture and last night, he further solidified it in the coveted circle in Nashville, TN alongside several of his country music friends.

Malone Was Introduced By Brad Paisley

To kick off the evening, Brad Paisley stepped up to the mic and gave the GRAMMY® Award-nominated global superstar a warm introduction. From the bottom of his heart, Paisley expressed genuine excitement for Malone to experience this milestone night.

“Well, the thing about this nice young man that we’re about to introduce onto the stage that I know might mean more to him than anything he’s possibly ever played, this is a guy who made his mark in other formats and has a country heart, I believe,” Paisley began.

The Opry star went on to mention the fact that this evening was taking place just a few days before Malone unveils his debut country album, F-1 Trillion, on Friday, August 16, with features by Paisley along with many other country music superstars.

“He is someone who immersed himself in the Nashville way and came here and said, ‘I’m going to make an album and I’m going to do it with country musicians and friends, and we’re going to drink a lot of beer, and we’re going to spend all-nighters in the studio and we’re going to come up with something.’ And that album comes out, I guess tomorrow night,” Paisley continued. “It’s going to be the greatest thing you ever heard, but you aren’t a country singer till you’ve played this. And he is through and through one of the best musicians, artists, and people I’ve met. Please welcome, for his debut on the Grand Ole Opry, Post Malone.”

Following the incredibly kind introduction from Paisley, Malone made his entrance and formally introduced himself to the sold-out crowd.

“My name is Austin Richard Post, and I am here to play some songs tonight with some really amazing folks and friends of mine. I’m honored to call them friends of mine, and I’m so terrified and beyond honored to be standing right in this spot right here,” he admitted.

The 9x Diamond-certified artist then shared that his mom was showing him support from the audience. He also extended the same kindness to Paisley as he admitted how honored he was to be introduced by an artist who influenced his love for music so early on.

“I remember going to see you when I was like six,” he said with a laugh. “And I just wanted to say how amazingly grateful and beyond floored I am to have you bring me out tonight, sir. And I appreciate you.”

Vince Gill And John Michael Montgomery Takes The Stage

Post Malone then raised his red solo cup and welcomed his first guest of the night, Vince Gill. Together, they performed a cover of Gill’s 1993 single, “One More Last Chance” featuring Paisley on guitar.

“I just want to say how cool it is to be able to come out and rock out with people that I’ve listened to my whole entire life,” he shared humbly before bringing up his next guest, John Michael Montgomery.

“Let’s get this party started,” said Montgomery before the pair broke out into his iconic country hit, “Be My Baby Tonight.”

After treating the crowd to a few classics, Malone got the chance to showcase some brand-new tunes that will appear on his soon-to-be-released album. He delivered the live debut of songs like “Nosedive” with Lainey Wilson and “Goes Without Saying,” with Brad Paisley. Additionally, The War And Treaty filled in for Chris Stapleton on “California Sober.”

Malone closed out his memorable set with a solo rendition of “I Had Some Help,” which he recorded with Morgan Wallen, and his non-country hit, “Sunflower.” He was clearly filled with emotion as he took off his cowboy hat and took in everything that had just unfolded.
