Throughout their careers, country icon Clint Black and his wife Lisa Hartman Black have experienced numerous memorable moments together. They’ve recorded duets, shared the stage, and even starred in movies together.
A Throwback To The Legend Of Cadillac Jack
Black recently reminded fans of their time on the set of Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack through a “throwback Thursday” post shared via social media.
The Instagram post included a nostalgic movie poster from the 1998 film, Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack. Alongside the Western-style images, the grainy poster names the lovebirds as the stars of the fact-based story.
“#TBT to Cadillac Jack and his wife, “Ponder”, played by my beautiful wife, Lisa Hartman Black,” the “Killin’ Time” singer wrote in the caption.
Is Cadillac Jack Based On A True Story?
Directed by David Burton Morris, this fact-based drama is based on “Cadillac” Jack Favor and his legacy as a Texas Rodeo star. Black was tapped to portray the journey of Favor, who was framed for a double murder and wrongly imprisoned after he picked up a couple of hitchhikers who unbeknown to him, had recently committed a crime. Suddenly, his life went from breaking records and enjoying days with his wife, Ponder, and their son, Tommy, to being named an accomplice of a heinous act.
Throughout the film, Ponder, who is played by Black’s real-life wife, Lisa Hartman, works tirelessly to try and free her husband from prison. Just when all seems lost, something unexpected arises, offering a glimpse at freedom for Jack and the chance to finally clear his name.
“Still Holding On” Song
The title of the movie also refers to the song “Still Holding On,” which was recorded by Clint Black and Martina McBride and released as a duet in 1997. Written by Black with Marty Stuart and Matraca Berg, the soulful tune appears as the first single from Black’s album Nothin’ But The Taillights and McBride’s album Evolution.
In addition to Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack, Black and Hartman have each showed off their acting skills through a number of films and TV series including Flicka: Country Pride, Back To You and Me, Maverick, and more.
Did Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black Have Children?
The couple share a child, Lily Pearl Black. The line of multi-talent has also been passed down to their daughter, who has officially begun to embrace her own musical journey. She often tours with her parents which allows the young artist to experience life on the road and also explore her own sound. This led the young singer/songwriter to drop her very first EP, Songs from the Mostly Hits and the Mrs. Tour.
The three-track project was released on November 11, 2022, and features Lily’s first studio recording, “Never Knew Love,” as well we two live covers of “Cry Pretty – Live” and “Every Time It Rains – Live,” which were both captured during the tour.
After years of honing her craft and drawing inspiration from her parents’ achievements in the industry, Lily expressed that the opportunity to share her own body of work has been an “indescribable” experience.
“I’m still kind of on that excitement high from it because this is something that I have been looking forward to for so long. Especially with last year’s tour, I kind of started to get more excited about something that wasn’t even in the works yet, just imagining what it was gonna be like and getting to share music,” she previously told Country Now.
Is Clint Black Still Singing?
Clint Black continues to tour to this day and recently came together once again for a limited run of shows.
Taking to social media to announce the news, Black wrote “My wonderful family is coming back on tour with me again for a limited run of shows in 2024. The band and crew and I can’t wait to see you back out here with us.”
Lily also shared the news on her own social media page saying she “cannot wait” to embark on yet another journey together.
Currently, Clint Black is in the middle of a three-night run at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium in celebration of the 35th anniversary of his Killin’ Time album.
