Rhett Akins and his wife Sonya Akins welcomed their adorable baby boy, Brody James Akins at 7:49 pm on Friday, March 13.
The ’90s hit-maker’s wife Sonya took to Instagram to introduce fans to their new bundle of joy on Saturday, March 14.
“Friday the 13th is a pretty magical day. Our little angel arrived at 7:49p.m. weighing 7.2lbs and 19 inches. He is perfect in every way!!!! Welcome Brody James Akins.”
“My heart is about to explode!! I’m so in love with our sweet baby boy!! Thank you lord for this precious gift that you have given our family!!” said Sonya Akins in an Instagram post on March 17.
Brody James is the couples first child together. Joining Akins’ other two children, Thomas Rhett Akins (29) and sister, Kasey Lee Akins (27).
The couple first announced Sonya’s pregnancy in September 2019 on Instagram with a photo of a board using some lyrics from Thomas Rhett’s song “Look What God Gave Her” and their due date of March 2020.
“We are so excited to share that we will be adding a sweet bundle of joy to our lives next year!! Swipe ➡️ to see our gender reveal!! (It didn’t go as planned) but it was still perfect to us!! We can not wait to meet baby Akins!!!” read the Instagram announcement caption.
Akins and Sonya married in September of 2017.
