After meeting McCreery in elementary school, Dugal would doodle hearts and “Mrs. Gabi McCreery” in her diary. Little did she know, she was predicting her future.
The pair officially began dating during their senior year of high school in Garner, North Carolina. They stuck by each other’s side throughout college and through the early years of McCreery’s musical career. (Dugal even made appearances in several of McCreery’s first music videos, including “The Trouble with Girls,” “Feelin’ It” and “Five More Minutes”)
In September 2017, McCreery proposed to Dugal while hiking near Grandfather Mountain.
“I’ve been planning this moment for so long that it feels surreal for it to have finally happened,” McCreery said at the time. “Gabi is the perfect girl and my true love, and I cannot wait to begin building our life together as husband and wife.”
The pair returned to the mountains of North Carolina for their June 16, 2018 wedding where they exchanged vows at the Twickenham House & Hall in front of 200 guests.
“We’ve been dating six years and have known each other our whole lives. That kind of story doesn’t happen too often nowadays,” the American Idol winner told People before the wedding. “I support her dreams and she supports mine.”
Footage from the couple’s picturesque wedding can be seen in McCreery’s “This Is It” music video.
Scotty and Gabi currently reside in North Carolina with their adorable dog, Moose.
