The countdown to the next season of American Idol is on and ABC is giving fans a taste of what’s to come with a sneak peek video clip.
The just-released season preview features Idol judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, as well as in-house mentor Bobby Bones and longtime host Ryan Seacrest, intermixed with clips of next season’s Idol hopefuls.
Bryan has a new approach for the next season, assuring viewers he plans to be “a little more frank, a little more real” during the upcoming season. In the clip, the country superstar is shown turning down a number of contestants, proving he means business.
The preview also tugs at the heartstrings a bit, highlighting the emotional backstories of several contestants.

The season premiere is set for Sunday, February 16, 2020.
