The Band Perry have steadily been releasing what Kimberly Perry likes to call “psycho girl love songs” with tracks like “PSYCHOLOGICAL,” “Buzzards” and “Kill It.” The husband-and-wife duo now reveals that the new music is building toward a larger project currently in the works.

Just before taking the stage at Nissan Stadium for CMA Fest 2026, the pair of artists caught up with Country Now to tease that they’ve been steadily working on a new collection of songs, which Kimberly shared is set to drop sometime this year.

She noted that fans can expect a blend of nostalgia that nods to the early days of The Band Perry and a more modern sound that reflects where they are now in this current chapter of their music.

“We’re putting finishing touches on right now and our goal with this project is to really give all of our fans the OG Band Perry feelings, but also it’s 2026. We have a lot to say. We love where country music’s at. It’s so bold and fresh. And so I feel like we’ve made a project that honors both eras, if you will,” she explained.

The Band Perry is no stranger to CMA Fest. Back when the group was still a trio made up of siblings Kimberly, Reid, and Neil Perry, Kimberly recalls taking part in the CMA Fest Parade, originally known as the Fan Fair Parade, which was a highly anticipated part of the annual festival until it ended its run in 2008.

“The very first memory I have of CMA Fest was…the first event we had of the first day of the festival was to jump in this back of this pickup truck and we drove down Broadway and we were just waving. It was like the CMA parade,” Kimberly recalls. “I’m like bring the parade back. It was one of my favorites. We might have had some beads. It was like full on Mardi Gras in the middle of the summer in Nashville.”

Fast forward to 2026, both the band and the Nashville festival have evolved. The band is now made up of Kimberly and her husband, Johnny Costello and this year they had the “surreal” opportunity to perform on June 5 during the Night two concerts at Nissan Stadium. This marked Johnny’s first time playing the home of the Tennessee Titans.

“Even rehearsal today, I was just like, man, it’s a special moment to get to be on that stage. I’m already just daydreaming about what singing ‘If I Die Young,’ what the crowd’s going to feel like,” she shared. “So we’re super excited.”

SoFi has been named the first-ever broadcast presenting sponsor and Official Bank of CMA Fest, joining the festival in a partnership centered on helping people pursue financial independence through music. As part of the collaboration, SoFi will highlight standout performances, including country icon Deana Carter and the live debut of Shaboozey’s new single, “Cowgirl.”

The 54th annual CMA Fest is set to take over downtown Nashville once again on June 10–13, 2027.
