Thomas Rhett was forced to abruptly postpone Saturday night’s Bring The Bar To You tour date in Chula Vista, CA, at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre due to “vocal irritation and swelling.”

On Saturday (Aug. 27), the country superstar made the difficult decision to cancel his concert and issued a statement to fans.

“Hey San Diego, It breaks my heart to say this but unfortunately I am not able to sing tonight due to vocal irritation and swelling and we are having to cancel the show at North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre,” Rhett wrote.

Rhett then apologized to concertgoers for the last-minute cancelation and expressed sorrow for those who traveled a far distance to the show.

“I am so sorry this announcement is so close to show time. For those of you who have already traveled to the show I sincerely apologize,” Rhett continued. ”We’ve been working all day to try and make the show happen, but it’s just not going to be possible and have been advised not to perform this evening.”

He concluded his statement by letting fans know that “everyone will be offered a refund at point of purchase. I love you, Home Team and hate that we are unable to play for you tonight.”

The Bring The Bar To You Tour, which runs through mid-October, also features special guests Parker McCollum and Conner Smith.

The superstar recently announced plans to extend his tour into 2023 with the addition of his just-announced Canadian dates, which will feature Jordan Davis and Kameron Marlowe.

“It’s been an absolute blast being back out on the road this summer and we are so excited to take the tour to Canada next year,” Rhett shared. “It feels like forever since we were last able to play for those fans. They always bring an insane amount of energy and we cannot wait to get up there and see them again.”

Earlier this year, the country hitmaker released his sixth studio album, Where We Started, which features Rhett’s latest single “Half Of Me” featuring Riley Green.

Rhett’s duet with Green is not the only collaboration on his new album. Rhett also teamed up with fellow country artists Tyler Hubbard (of Florida Georgia Line) and Russell Dickerson on “Death Row,” a redemptive track inspired by a visit the trio made to a Tennessee-based prison and with pop star Katy Perry on the emotional title track, “Where We Started.”

The project also features the chart-topping hit “Slow Down Summer,” which marked Rhett’s 19th career No. 1.

Rhett’s next scheduled tour date is September 8th at Tuscaloosa Amphitheater in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
