Travis Tritt will release his first-ever Gospel album, Country Chapel, on Friday, September 15. Throughout the album, Tritt brings listeners back to his childhood roots as he enchants them with genuine renditions and compelling tales of redemption. This soul-stirring album beautifully honors Tritt’s early years, spent within the warm embrace of the Country Chapel.

Country Chapel smoothly combines Tritt‘s established country vocals with the traditional church music he grew up with. It was produced by Dave Cobb at Georgia May Studio in Savannah, Georgia and released by Gaither Music Group.

“I’ve wanted to make this album for over thirty years and I hope and pray that everyone who hears it will be inspired and encouraged through Jesus Christ,” Tritt wrote on Twitter upon the announcement of the album.

Tritt grew up singing in the church choir and in 2022, he joined the Jesus Calling Devotional & Podcast to discuss these early moments.

“The first time that I ever sang for anybody in public we had a children’s choir, children’s church back when I was very, very young…five or six years old,” Tritt said on the podcast. “We rehearsed the song, which was a new song at the time, ‘Everything Is Beautiful,’ the old Ray Stevens song. And they chose me to sing the solo parts.”

Tritt continued, “Man, I was nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Finally, we had an opportunity to go up to what we referred to as ‘Big Church’ and perform that song for the adult congregation. I think that’s probably where I got bit by the bug.”

It was at that moment that Tritt realized that music was his calling.

“I just realized that was something that I wanted to continue to be doing. Even though I didn’t pursue it as a career till many, many years later, I knew right then that was something that I wanted to do,” Tritt stated.

In celebration of the debut project, the first track “When God Dips His Love in My Heart, was released early. To heighten the anticipation, the second track “Like the Father Loves His Son” will be released on August 18. Finally, to really give the listeners an even better idea of what is to come on this album, the track “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” will be released on September 15.

The 10-track album will also include two cover songs. Tritt will sing his version of “The Baptism of Jesse Taylor,” which was famously covered by The Oak Ridge Boys and he will sing “Why Me” which is originally written and recorded by Kris Kristofferson.

“Country Chapel” is distributed by Capitol Christian Music Group and Universal Music. It will be a defining moment in Tritt’s musical career as it touches hearts and souls through the language of music.
