Opry fans were in for a treat on Friday evening (June 25) when singer/songwriter Brooke Eden was joined by country superstar Trisha Yearwood for a special surprise performance.

Following a performance of her songs, “No Shade” and “Sunroof,” Eden began belting out Yearwood’s classic tune, “She’s In Love With The Boy.” Yearwood made an appearance after the first chorus, suggesting that the duo do a gender flip of her song to honor Pride month and Eden’s recent engagement. The pair then sang the duet as, “She’s In Love With The Girl.”

“Love is love. You can’t just say it. You gotta mean it,” Yearwood shared on the Opry stage. “So I think we should [sing] this song for you guys tonight, because she’s in love with the girl. I’m in love with the boy. Let’s just sing it for everybody.”

Eden was honored to sing next to Yearwood, who is one of her musical inspirations.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d ever share the stage with one of my heroes, Trisha Yearwood,” Eden explained. “Her idea of changing the words of ‘She’s In Love With The Boy’ to include Hilary and my love story is such a beautiful way of putting action behind the quote, ‘Love Is Love.’ Thank you to Trisha and the Opry for helping to create a community of love and acceptance. This is country music.”

Earlier this year, Eden put an end to her four-year hiatus, releasing her new songs, “No Shade,” “Sunroof” and “Got No Choice.” Her new music shares with fans how much she has grown as she has worked to become confident in herself and who she loves.

Eden took the stage at the OUTLOUD: Raising Voices featuring Pride Live’s Stonewall Day earlier this month, and she will be performing at CMT’s Concert for Love and Acceptance and Exit In in the upcoming weeks.
