Walker Hayes brought his irresistible live show to Bally’s Wild Wild West Casino in Atlantic City, NJ for a leap year party on Saturday (Feb. 29). The show also served as the after-party to Kane Brown’s Worldwide Beautiful Tour, which happened just down the New Jersey boardwalk.
Hayes kicked off his set with “Dollar Store,” a track from his album, boom., at 11:35 pm to a full capacity crowd, which packed out the entire casino floor. In fact, the audience was so large, it was one of the biggest crowds that the casino has ever seen at this stage. Fans’ excitement levels grew as he performed “Shut Up Kenny,” a song that is a nod to superstar Kenny Chesney, who Hayes says is one of his favorite artists.
The singer/songwriter demanded the attention of the packed crowd throughout his entire 90-minute set, which included performances of songs like “90’s Country,” “Beckett,” “Mind Candy” and “Break The Internet.”
Hayes, who has become known for clever wordplay within his lyrics, got serious for a bit with performances of the poignant “Don’t Let Her,” which chronicles a conversation between Hayes and the hypothetical man taking his place with his wife if something were to happen to him, and the emotional “Craig,” which shares how a random act of kindness changed his life during a particularly difficult time.
Hayes also performed new material from his latest release, 8Tracks, Vol. 3: Black Sheep, including the title track cut.
