Ella Langley; “Weren’t For The Wind”
Ella Langley reclaims her power and independence in the brand-new music video for her Top 20 and climbing hit at country radio, “Weren’t For The Wind.”
Days before premiering the footage, Langley sent fans in a tizzy when they noticed a wedding ring on her left in a clip of her playing the guitar. However, it quickly became clear that the jewelry was nothing more than an important teaser for what she had been working on.
On the morning of Tuesday, March 25, she revealed the reason for the ring while bringing the song to life with a cinematic video that stars the songstress alongside her adorable dog, Crue, and a love interest played by Kade Hafner.
Directed by Langley with Wales Toney, the video opens with a black screen featuring white text that read, “Growing out of the person you were, into the person you are now.” This motivational message set the tone for the empowering themes that came to light as viewers watch Langley depict the captivating storytelling.
Before the western-inspired song begins to play, Langley can be heard telling her fictional boyfriend about her music career, foreshadowing what’s to come. She proudly states, “I feel like this last batch of songs were some of my best. A record deal could change everything.” Footage of the Alabama native delivering the wispy tune on the porch of stunning white house are then interlaced with glimpses into the journey of her relationship – starting with the moment the man got down on one knee and proposed.

She happily accepts and the pair ride off into the sunset in their pick-up truck, looking happy as can be. However, as the story continues to unfold, that happiness slowly starts to fade as she realizes her success could be the downfall of their relationship.
The man tries everything to keep things from changing, even going as far as throwing out an offer for a record deal and causing a scene when a man shows an interest in Langley’s talent following a gig at a local bar. Langley clearly sees that trouble is brewing, and she reaches her last straw when her trusty sidekick Crue discovers the life-changing letter tossed in the mail.

Throughout the chorus, Langley finds herself contemplating what her life would look like if she were able to find a partner and settle down. She comes to realize once again that she’s better off on her own rather than staying committed to someone who doesn’t want the best for her. So, she packs up Crue and her belongings and embarks on her solo journey, ready to go wherever the wind may take her.
“Maybe that plane wouldn’t ever take off/ Maybe that dust wouldn’t fly off the drive/ Maybe that tumbleweed and me wouldn’t leave every other sunrise/ Maybe I’d settle down dig in some roots/ Find me a farmhouse find me you/ Maybe I wouldn’t be already gone again/ If it weren’t for the wind,” she sings.
Ella Langley previously spoke to Country Now, sharing how “Weren’t For The Wind” was penned in the midst of her opening run on Jon Pardi’s 2023 Mr. Saturday Night World Tour. The “You Look Like You Love Me” singer recalled driving through Wyoming and admiring the beautiful scenery along the road. She leaned into what she was feeling in that moment and in no time, wrote her next single alongside Johnny Clawson and Joybeth Taylor.
“I don’t know if you’ve ever been through Wyoming, but it’s just, it’s all this beautiful land. It’s just flat. There’s horses everywhere. I just vividly, like every time I drive through Wyoming, there’s always one moment where there’s this horse running alongside of whatever I’m in. I’m like, love that. So I feel like it’s just these westerny type vibes. And I don’t know, that one just kind of fell out. I can’t even remember who brought in that title. I don’t even think we had a title for it. The song just fell out that way.”

“Weren’t For The Wind” impacted airwaves at the top of 2025 and has now worked its way up to No. 19 on the Mediabase, marking her first-ever solo Top 20 hit at Country radio. The song appears on her 18-track project, Still Hungover, which serves as the deluxe edition of 2024’s Hungover album.
Langley is already working on new music while making her way from stage to stage on her sold-out Still Hungover Tour. The headline trek launched in January and includes dates through April. She is also set to join Riley Green on his Damn Country Music Tour throughout the year.
