Jon Pardi and his pregnant wife Summer announced that their first baby is due in February 2023. Plus, the moment fans have all been waiting for, Pardi also revealed that he is going be a girl dad.
The parents-to-be broke the news via social media in a video directed by Alexa Campbell. The heartwarming video starts out with black and white footage from the first moment Summer told her husband that they were expecting. The lovebirds are then shown in a black and white montage before revealing glamorous, pink-themed outfits, roses and baby toys with a caption that reads, “Febuary 2023… our little Pardi, party of 3.”
The words “Baby Pardi is a girl” are written across the screen in the final clip, confirming the news.
Summer’s following post includes a stunning photo of her showing off her baby bump while donning a bright pink pantsuit that features airy feathers on both pieces of the set.
“Can’t wait for my little shopping sidekick 😛💞🥰,” she gushed in her caption.
All week, the mom-to-be has been teasing their video shoot using black and white photos, being careful to not share any hints on the gender. Friends, family and fans quickly took to the comments to show their love and excitement for Pardi and Summer.
On Wednesday (Sept. 22), the couple first shared the news of their pregnancy exclusively with People through a series of elegant photos on social media.
“Wellllll, it happened. No plans, no timing, just a gift from god. I’m ready for it!,” Pardi wrote in his caption.
Along with the announcement, Summer also shared the sweet and clever way she told her husband about the positive test result.
Instead of just directly telling him the news, she decided to get creative by taping a sign to their new boat that read, “baby on board,” with the positive pregnancy test posted next to it. In her Instagram caption, she joked that even with the obvious clues, Pardi didn’t catch on right away.
“We had just gotten our new boat and I said there was a big scratch on the back of it. Even with the baby on board sign AND pregnancy test he still didn’t get it,” she wrote in the caption of the video that captures Pardi’s reaction, which goes from confused to excited in a matter of seconds.
She added, “He thought I was just making fun of him because the boat was his new baby.”
Luckily, they were able to laugh about his misunderstanding right after the realization hit. Summer shared that soon after, Pardi was already taking his new role very seriously. “5 minutes later he was blasting baby shark in the kitchen, already thriving hahah.”
The video shows the couple embracing in a hug after he finally saw that Summer wasn’t joking around. She also included a few other photos of their journey so far such as the ultrasound, the two pink lines on the test, her baby bump and footage of her and Pardi dancing together on stage during one of his concerts.
Jon Pardi recently wrapped up his headlining Ain’t Always The Cowboy tour with special guests Lainey Wilson and Hailey Whitters, but before he launches into full dad mode, the singer has a few more performances booked for the year. Pardi is next slated to play at the Grand Old Opry on October 21.
