Kelsea Ballerini teamed up with pop superstar Halsey for an episode of CMT Crossroads, and the network is teasing fans with a final sneak peek of the show before its premiere on March 25.
In a just-released clip, fans can watch Ballerini and Halsey join forces on their collaborative new track “The Other Girl.” The performance marks the live debut of the song.
“The Other Girl” was co-written by Ballerini, Shane Mcanally and Ross Copperman and can be found on Ballerini’s brand new album, kelsea.
“I was doing a ton of writing on the road while I was opening for Keith Urban and I love the idea of having a female collab, a female duet cause you don’t see it a lot and I just think it’s so powerful when two women powerhouses come together,” Ballerini explained in an Instagram live stream Thursday night (March 19).
Ballerini explained that the two female superstars became buddies after Halsey performed at Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville, Tenn. She later wrote a song that she wanted Halsey’s vocals on, so she connected with her via a FaceTime video chat while they were both in Los Angeles and asked her to come play her the song. She explained that Halsey “brought this new life to the song.”
“Well it was already perfect, so that means a lot that you say that,” Halsey replied.
Halsey explained to fans that they were both at really good places in their lives, so they were able to draw inspiration from “old hurt” with “The Other Girl.”
Fans can stream/purchase Ballerini’s third studio album, kelsea, HERE.
The superstar’s full CMT Crossroads episode will air on March 25 at 10 PM ET/PT on CMT.
