CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee Luke Combs has a big surprise up his sleeve for his CMA Awards performance on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, the superstar took to social media to gauge fans’ interest in him debuting a new song when he takes the CMA Awards stage.
“Still trying to decide what I want to sing on the CMA Awards this Wednesday. Would y’all be cool with a brand new, unreleased song? And I’ll have it available to stream/purchase everywhere after my performance,” he teased on Sunday (Nov. 7), just days ahead of the coveted awards show.
With less than 24 hours before the star-studded broadcast, Combs returned with a video message to confirm he will in fact be performing a brand new, unreleased track.
“I asked y’all earlier this week, if you would want to maybe hear a new song on the CMAs. So, it seems like y’all are real interested in that, and we’re going to do it,” he revealed. “We’re going to play a brand-new song, never been heard before, we’ve never played it before.”
Combs went on to encourage fans to tune in for the special performance.
“We’re going to be playing it live on the CMAs this Wednesday on ABC at 8 Eastern time. Make sure you tune in and check it out, let me know what you think,” he said. “I look forward to y’all hearing this song, it means a lot to me personally, and it’s going to be available everywhere that you consume music right after we perform on the CMAs. So, I look forward to seeing y’all there and wish me luck.”
In fact, the song is so new, that even his wife, Nicole Hocking Combs, didn’t get to hear it until just a few days ago.
“I heard this song for the first time like 3 days ago so… this is wild hahaha,” Nicole commented on his Instagram post.

The unreleased new song is expected to land on Combs’ forthcoming third studio album, which the singer has been hard at work writing and recording over the past few months.
The North Carolina native began working on his forthcoming third studio album in early March 2021. And although he hasn’t shared an official release date for the album just yet, he has been teasing fans with updates on social media. He has even shared a few songs that could potentially make the cut for the record.
So far, Combs has shared several unreleased songs such as “The Kind Of Love We Make,” “Falling For You Still,” “Five Leaf Clover,” “See Me Now,” “Ever Mine,” “We Still Drink Beer,” “Good Ol’ Days” and many more.
Combs’ upcoming new project will be the follow-up to his chart-topping, 2x Platinum 2019 album, What You See Is What You Get, and the 2020 deluxe edition of the project dubbed, What You See Ain’t Always What You Get.

The country hitmaker is nominated for three CMA Awards at this year’s ceremony, including Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for “Forever After All.”
“Being nominated for Entertainer of the Year I mean anytime is, you know, unbelievable and something you never think would ever happen and yet here you are,” Combs said of his nomination for CMA’s highest honor.
He continued, ”It’s the top award in our, in our business and our genre you know, so I think you know everybody that gets nominated wants to win I know I would love to win at some point and if that’s this year, five years from now and I know but just being nominated is awesome and something that I definitely don’t take for granted.”
The 55th Annual CMA Awards will also feature performances from Combs in addition to Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, Jimmie Allen, Gabby Barrett, Dierks Bentley feat. BRELAND and HARDY, Brothers Osborne, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Dan + Shay, Mickey Guyton featuring Brittney Spencer and Madeline Edwards, Jennifer Hudson, Miranda Lambert, Old Dominion, Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde, Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban, Chris Young and Kane Brown, and Zac Brown Band.
Additionally, the star-studded awards ceremony will feature dozens of presenters, including Trace Adkins, Ingrid Andress, Kelsea Ballerini, Deana Carter, Lauren Daigle, Russell Dickerson, Faith Fennidy, Florida Georgia Line, Freddie Freeman, Amy Grant, Dulé Hill, Alan Jackson, Elle King, Lady A, Zachary Levi, Scotty McCreery, Hayley Orrantia, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Darius Rucker, Susan Sarandon, Saycon Sengbloh, Kurt Warner, Lainey Wilson, and Trisha Yearwood.
Hosted by Luke Bryan, the star-studded show is set to broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 10 beginning at 8/7c on ABC.
