Megan Moroney is bringing her buzzed-about new single, “I’m Not Pretty,” to life in a brand new music video.
The clip, directed by Moroney and Jeff Johnson showcases the rising star in a dual role, portraying both the song’s main character and the envious, jealousy-driven mean girl determined to cut her down.
The video begins with an outdoor party, where the antagonist’s envy intensifies as her eyes mirror the flames of the campfire. The clip then alternates between the contrasting lives of the two characters. From Moroney’s glamorous slumber party scenes, complete with lavish cakes, to the gloomy and somber world of her rival, “I’m Not Pretty” humorously captures the absurdity of mean-girl behavior.

“I’ve had a creative vision for the song since I wrote it and I am so excited that I was able to co-direct the music video,” Moroney explained in a statement. “I casted my best friends in real life to be in it and thought it was really important to portray the difference in the nice girls that seem to mind their own business and the mean girls who spend all of their time tearing down others. Moral of the story- nice girls always win! I hope my fans love the video and it continues to become the empowering anthem it is.”
“Being able to work side by side with Megan and having her co-direct with me was seriously so much fun,” “I’m Not Pretty” co-director, Jeff Johnson, added. “From the initial concept, to building a treatment, acting in it, performing in it, editing and sitting in on our color session, Megan was a part of this video every step of the way. She saw it through from start to finish which I really loved. We both aimed to make this video funny, clever and quirky that her fans can have fun with and laugh while watching it.”
Moroney’s tourmate and fellow singer/songwriter, Logan Crosby, is also featured in the music video.

“I’m Not Pretty” arrived at country radio as the most-added song. The track follows Moroney’s first-ever No.1 single, “Tennesee Orange.”
The track details a situation many have experienced as she tells the real-life story of when an ex-boyfriend’s new flame did some Instagram stalking and accidentally liked an old photo on her feed.
The mid-tempo track couples Moroney’s smooth vocals with her impeccable storytelling skills as she confidently sends a message to her ex’s new girl.

“Somewhere out there my ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s scrolling through my Instagram/ Tearing me down, passing the phone around like there’s nothing better to do/ Zooming out, Zooming in overanalyzin’/ Like the queen of the mean girls’ committee/ But hey whatever helps/ Keep on telling yourself/ I’m not pretty,” she sings.
As the song continues, Moroney’s message is clear as she declares, “Give me a break, learn to sew, bake a cake/ Take a walk and while you’re at it get lost.”
Moroney co-wrote the tune with Ben Williams, Micah Carpenter, and Mackenzie Carpenter and says she hopes others will relate.
“It’s a mostly true story (you can find the spring break throwback pic on my Instagram) but not meant to be taken too seriously,” Moroney explained. “I think everyone can relate to somebody keeping tabs on them on social media. It was fun to write and it’s fun to sing and hopefully will become an anthem for the girls.”
Album Out Now

The track is included on Moroney’s recently released debut album, LUCKY. Released on May 5, the project includes 13 tracks and was produced by Kristian Bush.
“All these songs came from me writing about my life; I don’t ever put on a persona or try to be something I’m not,” Moroney previously explained in a press release. “I’m just a 25-year-old girl from Georgia who happens to be very in touch with her feelings, and knows how to turn them into songs.”
On Tour
Megan Moroney embarked on her first-ever headlining tour earlier this year and later hit the road with Brooks & Dunn on the REBOOT Tour.

While on the road with the iconic country music duo, Moroney had the opportunity to join them for a performance of “Cowgirls Don’t Cry.” Re-live the memorable moment HERE.
After playing several fairs and festivals this summer, Moroney is set to launch her headlining LUCKY Tour on September 20 in New York. The trek will make stops in cities across the U.S., including Philadelphia, Chicago, Las Vegas, and more before wrapping up on December 10 in Atlanta.
