Ever since Lainey Wilson said “yes” to former NFL quarterback Devlin “Duck” Hodges’ grand proposal back in February, fans have been eager for any sign of wedding plans. But while the excitement builds online, Wilson is intentionally taking things slow and steady and claims to be in no rush to walk down the aisle.
In a new interview with Country Living, the superstar joked that Duck is “gonna kill me” because she is determined to “make him wait” for the big day in return for his delay in popping the question.
“He made me wait for four years. I’m gonna make him wait before we start planning this thing,” she admitted.
The reason Wilson claims to be taking things slow with the planning process isn’t a reflection of her excitement to wed her other half. Instead, she simply wants to be intentional with the process and make sure the day reflects what truly matters.

“We hadn’t really covered any ground on it just yet, but we’re taking our time and it’s gonna be right and it’s gonna be beautiful and, you know, what it’s supposed to be about,” she shared honestly.
Lainey Wilson has plenty of other tasks on her plate to keep her busy in her career. The Grammy winner is currently in the midst of a jam-packed tour that stretches through November, all while working on new music. In fact, there’s hardly ever a moment before the Louisiana native isn’t building out her next set of releases.

Wilson Reveals She’s Already Working On Her Next Project
She revealed that before fans even got their hands on her latest collection of fan-favorites, Whirlwind, her “next batch” was in the works. Listeners will be excited to know that the deluxe edition of Whirlwind will be dropping in August and a new full-length album will follow.
“We’ve got a deluxe coming [in August], but other than that, I’m working on the next full thing too. I always got those creative wheels turning, and that’s the way I like it. I like to stay creative because I feel like when I’m not, I’m just not myself.”
Set To Make Her Film Debut In 2026
Plus, she has brushed off her acting skills and is set to make her film debut alongside Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford in Reminders of Him. The movie, set to drop in 2026, is based on a Colleen Hoover novel. Wilson first gained on-screen experience while playing the role of Abby in season five of the TV show, Yellowstone.
In Reminders of Him, fans will get to see her play a brand-new character that allows her to step outside of her comfort zone.
“After Yellowstone, after I played a musician role, I told my manager, ‘The next thing I want to do is something where I step outside of that. And this was the first opportunity that had presented itself to us and that felt great,” she admitted. “For the very first time, I’m playing a character that’s not a musician. It’s cool for me to be able to step into other people’s shoes and write from their perspective, so this gave me an opportunity to step into a pair of shoes and act from a different point of view. It was fun. It just gave me a creative outlet and I really enjoyed it and we’ll see what else happens, but I can see myself doing more of it for sure.”
Lainey Wilson’s nearly sold-out Whirlwind World Tour is set to pick back up in August and run through November.
