For those who may have forgotten, season 3 concluded with John Dutton (Kevin Costner) being ambushed with gun fire, Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) possibly killed or injured by a bomb in her office, and Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) attacked by a gunman.
Viewers have been racking their brains questioning who is behind the attack. Theories have been floating around the internet for months and Sunday’s two-episode premiere will likely answer some of those burning questions.
For fans who plan to tune in, here’s what you need to know about the long-awaited return of Yellowstone.

“Mayor of Kingstown and 1883 are perfect examples of the types of prestige dramas we are focused on bringing to Paramount+,” said Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer, ViacomCBS Streaming. “Taylor Sheridan is an exceptional talent and we are thrilled to be expanding his portfolio of series within the ViacomCBS family. With the special simulcast event of both series on Paramount Network, we will be further tapping into the scale and reach of ViacomCBS to bring audiences to Paramount+.”
1883 stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as well as Sam Elliott.
According to a press release, “1883 follows the Dutton family as they embark on a journey west through the Great Plains toward the last bastion of untamed America. It is a stark retelling of Western expansion, and an intense study of one family fleeing poverty to seek a better future in America’s promised land — Montana.”

Naturally, McGraw and Hill will play a couple: James and Margaret Dutton, the patriarch and matriarch of the Dutton family. Elliott will portray the role of Shea Brennan, a tough as nails, handsome cowboy with immense sadness in his past.
1883 is produced by Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, David Glasser, Ron Burkle and Bob Yari.
