Zac Brown Band is spreading a message of positivity and unity with a brand-new song called “Same Boat.”

The feel-good track dropped earlier this month as the band’s first release under their new record label, Warner Music Nashville/Home Grown Music.

Written by Brown with prolific songwriters Ben Simonetti and Jonathan Singleton and recorded post-shutdown at Southern Ground recording studio in Nashville, “Same Boat” features the signature sound that ZBB fans have always loved with layered vocal harmonies, lively fiddles, down-beat reggae rhythms, and a dancing banjo.

Meanwhile, the lyrics of the song serve to remind listeners that no matter where they come from or whatever difficulties they may be struggling with, they’re not alone because people everywhere are also going through similar situations.

“We’re all in the same boat / Fishing in the same hole / Wondering where the same time goes / We’re all in the same boat,” ZBB’s frontman Brown kicks off the chorus in the song’s opening lines before segueing into the first verse. “We could all believe what we believe / Peacefully agree to disagree / But you can’t judge a man / ‘Til you walk a country mile in his shoes.”

In a recent press release, Brown said, “‘Same Boat’ is really about the human condition. It’s about how we all go through the same things, all together. It is a chance to be able to remind people to be positive, be good to each other, and show empathy. You don’t know what it’s like to walk around in someone else’s shoes. We’re all human beings. Let’s spread some love around and show kindness to each other.”

“Same Boat” follows ZBB’s previous songs, “The Man Who Loves You the Most,” “You and Islands,” and “I’d Take Another One of Those” featuring Shenandoah. The uplifting tune will also be included on ZBB’s next album.

Brown opened up about the upcoming project during a recent interview with Audacity’s Katie & Company, saying, “We’ve been writing this whole last year and have written some of the best songs we’ve ever written. We have an album that is stacked with great songs. I’ve been able to be creatively present to write all the songs and sit with them and spend time making sure they’re right, and then to actually go in with my band to produce the record and do all of that and have the time and space to do it.”

“I’ve never had this much time to write the songs. I’ve never had this much time to be able to comb through everything and get it just right, where everything feels perfect…” he added. “I’m excited. This is definitely our masterpiece so far. And, it’s perfect timing for the tour, and perfect timing to be working with radio again, and just getting back out there in the world and reconnecting with everyone.”

ZBB’s upcoming The Comeback Tour, following a rare 14-month hiatus, begins on August 5, 2021.
