Alexandra Kay has been paving her path as an independent artist since getting dropped by her label in 2019. Despite the setback, she has remained true to herself and takes pride in what she has achieved on her own. Recently, the songstress took a moment to reflect on her journey as she prepares for an exciting opportunity that shows her hard work is finally paying off.
“’I’m staying independent until the right opportunity comes long.’ That has always been the plan since my last label dropped me in 2019. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done taking this journey on with a team of 3 for the last 5 years,” she began in her message shared via X (formerly Twitter).
Kay has patiently watched as her fellow singer/songwriters enjoy opportunities that often exclude independent artists, such as walking red carpets, getting their singles on country radio, winning awards, and collaborating with superstars. Even though she had to sit back and see others live out her dreams, she admits she “wouldn’t change a thing.”

Joining Jelly Roll On The Road
That resilience and patience have earned her a spot as an opening act on Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken Tour. On August 27, she will cross off a major bucket list item when she makes her debut on an arena stage at Delta Center in Salt Lake City, UT.
“When I stand up on my first arena stage to open for @JellyRoll615 in a week as an independent artist, I can do it with pride knowing I sacrificed everything to have that opportunity and that I’m ready for it.”
With this accomplishment, the Waterloo, IL native is sending the message to independent artists everywhere can still achieve their dreams without the help of a major label.
“I’m so grateful for every up and every down. Love you guys. Thanks to everyone who has ever believed in me,” she added in conclusion.
Finding Love After Divorce
Alexandra Kay has had a full summer of touring and sharing her autunitic story through songs like “Everleave,” “I Hate Airplanes,” “I Can Do Anything,” which all appear on her debut album, All I’ve Ever Known. Out October 26, 2023, the project serves as Kay’s open and honest conversation about her divorce.
The 11-track project details the emotional rollercoaster she experienced from this chapter of her life. When the days became too overwhelming, Kay started to do what she’s done since she was 13 years old and turned to songwriting to help process her emotions.
Kay has since found love again with her boyfriend, Rocko Beall. They hard-launched their relationship on Valentine’s Day using social media that featured several photos of the lovebirds. According to the post, her new man is Rocko Beall, her guitarist and musical director.
“Oh how rare it is, to find someone like you. ❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day, sugar. You make me the happiest girl in the world. 🌹,” the singer/songwriter wrote in the caption.
The couple continued to work together along with the rest of her “independent dream team” on the All I’ve Ever Known: The Tour. In honor of this trek coming to a close, Alexander Kay took to Instagram to celebrate with a heartfelt sendoff.
“This small little independent dream team has accomplished UNTHINKABLE things this past few years. From 100 cap clubs in 2022 to now selling out rooms To THOUSANDS. All I’ve Ever Known is that if you keep good people around you, GREAT things will happen. I love you team! Here’s to starting a brand new chapter TOGETHER.”
