Ashley McBryde is making it a point to celebrate her fellow Female Vocalist of the Year nominees ahead of the 58th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards.

The Arkansas native hosts a regular series on social media dubbed “Pajama Jams,” where she performs acoustic covers of various artists while wearing comfy clothes and no makeup. This gives her a way to connect with fans on their shared love for music in a more casual setting. For the past week, she has dedicated her “Pajama Jams” series to the artists seated alongside her in the elite category, which includes Megan Moroney, Kelsea Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves and Lainey Wilson.

Kacey Musgraves – “My House”

McBryde started out by covering one of her “favorites,” Kacey Musgraves’ “My House” off her debut studio album of 2013, Same Trailer Different Park.

“Hey, it is Pajama Jams festival style, in bus clothes. This is two shows worth of glam in my hair and no makeup. And we are celebrating the five women in the female vocalist category,” she shared. “Right now, I’m going to do Kasey Musgraves, who is one of the most angelic voices we have in country music. And I’m a huge fan of her and her songwriting, so I’m going to do my favorite.”

McBryde soulfully delivered the first verse and chorus of the romantic tale that depicts a woman’s life in a mobile home and her journey of exploring the world with her living room on wheels and her partner by her side. The songstress joked and apologized about messing up a word in the final line of the chorus and then closed out the video.

@ashleymcbrydemusic It’s time to celebrate the fantastic women nominated for @Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year, Pajama Jams style ! Megan Moroney – “Mama I Lied”

Next up was “Mama I Lied” by Megan Moroney.  McBryde returned in the same setting, with her “bus clothes” still on and slowed things down with her light guitar plucks and tender vocals. She effortlessly portrayed the tune that finds Moroney telling her mom about all the things she lied about growing up, including the boy who she was too afraid to admit was actually not a good guy.

Moroney clearly approved of this cover as she took to the comment sections to write, “🥹💙 AMAZING.”

LAINEY WILSON – “4x4xU”

Then, she grabbed her cowboy hat to channel the next artist she would be covering, Lainey Wilson.

“It’s time to celebrate another one of the women in the female vocals for the year category. I don’t know if my hat gave it away and I figured since I sleep in clothes sometimes on the bus, this is as close to the pajama jams as we’re going to get,” McBryde joked while pointing out her jeans and a T-shirt. “Anyway, we’ve added a Stetson. Here’s my girl Lainey.”

Ashley McBryde then broke out into a heartfelt performance of Wilson’s fan-favorite, “4x4xU.” This post also featured a bit of humor as a fake chicken suddenly came into the screen mid-way through the video, appearing to sing the harmonies that were being delivered off camera.

“The redneck heavens just opened wide! Love you sister,” Wilson wrote on Instagram.

Kelsea Ballerini – “I Hate Love Songs”

The last cover on this series was dedicated to Kelsea Ballerini. McBryde took fans back into her fellow country star’s early catalog and pulled out “I Hate Love Songs.” Although for this post, she was a bit more glammed up than her usual “Pajama Jams” look, McBryde serenaded listeners with the nostalgic tune, featuring harmonies from a few female members of her team.

Ballerini rightfully offered Ashley McBryde a very high compliment in the comment section as she compared her vocals to the incredibly talented Kelly Clarkson.

“this feels like when kelly clarkson covers one of my songs, i then retire it because this version is now the only version that exists. i adore you and can’t wait to see yall 🤍🤍🤍🤍.”

Fans will find out which of these artists will take home the Female Vocalist of the Year win during the coveted CMA Awards show, which is set to take place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Hosted by Lainey Wilson, Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, the show will air live on ABC from 8–11 PM ET and will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
