Bailey Zimmerman recently welcomed a new member to his family when he adopted an adorable new puppy named Pie. Things took a devastating turn because after bringing her home, Zimmerman quickly realized that Pie was sick with parvovirus and had to rush her to the veterinarian.
According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, parvovirus or parvo is a “highly contagious disease” that “attacks white blood cells and the gastrointestinal tract of dogs.” Dogs who have parvo need immediate medical attention as it could lead to severe illness and even death.
In a social media post shared in mid-October, Zimmerman explained the tough situation.
“Pie has had a rough first couple days… after we brought her home we noticed she wasn’t acting right and rushed her to the vet to find out that she had parvo… BUT it’s looking like we caught it early enough and she’s gonna make a full recovery and be good to go,” he wrote at the time.
Luckily, the Illinois made it to the vet just in time and she was able to be saved. Now, Zimmerman is giving fans an update on the sweet pup who joins his beloved golden retriever, Marley.
“The Vet said that she should be in the clear of what was going on before!! THANK THE LORD,” Zimmerman wrote on Instagram over the weekend.

He later added, “Thankful for everybody that was praying for her… blessed that she made it through it🫶.”
Pie and Marley are reportedly “best buds” and play and nap together constantly.
The “New To Country” singer previously opened up about adding another golden retriever to his family and explained that he wanted Marley to have a “best friend to grow up with.”
While celebrating the chart-topping success of his hits “Where It Ends” and “Religiously” with a party hosted at BMI’s Nashville office, Zimmerman appeared to be a proud dog dad as he raved over his new puppy and shared some of the puppy antics that they’ve been experiencing so far.
“Pie is pretty crazy right now. She was pretty chill when she got to the house, but I think she was just nervous. Now, she’s comfy,” he explained to Country Now and other outlets. “She’s like a terror man. She’s like five pounds, but she smashes everything and bites my toes off. She’ll be real sweet with you in the morning and then all of a sudden, she just snaps…She’s crazy. So that’s been fun!”
Zimmerman hopes to bring Pie on the road in the near future.
