In his current single, “Fall of Summer,” Scotty McCreery illustrates how a connection made with someone during the sunshine-filled months may not always built to last, but the memories could stick around longer than expected. With the release of the accompanying music video, listeners get a dose of that same warmth and emotions as they vividly come to life through the lens of the couple themselves.

The nostalgic tune was most added at country radio in its first week and is now sitting in the Top 40 and climbing the charts. With the brand-new video, the story within the heartfelt lyrics starts to unfold between a couple who met while enjoying a carefree summer. Although their relationship was only supposed to be a fling, McCreery sings from the perspective of the man who can’t seem to forget about all the time they spent together in a short period.

Directed by McCreery’s frequent collaborator, Austin, TX-based filmmaker Jeff Ray, the video captures the lovebirds on a beach in Galveston, TX, dipping their toes in the potential of a future only to find that their time together will ultimately fade once the fall season starts to take over. They made the most of their time together, which we see through vintage footage that captures the young lovers feeling nothing but bliss in the present moment.

Interlaced between the heartfelt moments, Scotty McCreery uses his signature baritone vocals to light up the song that has been taking over the airwaves. These performance clips were shot in the North Carolina native’s home state on the shores of North Topsail Beach.

The video starts and ends with the same image of a lock that will always serve as a reminder of the memories that were made that summer, even if the couple has gone their separate ways. The Triple Tigers recording artist admitted that he wants his fans to make their own predictions on whether or not the fling was just that or if it turned into something more.

“This video really captures that nostalgic look back at a past summer love that ‘Fall of Summer’ is all about,” said McCreery. “Does the couple make it or does the relationship end off-camera? I want to hear what people think.”

Penned by Scotty McCreery, Frank Rogers and Brent Anderson and produced by Rogers, Derek Wells, and Aaron Eshuis, “Fall of Summer,” appears on McCreery’s critically acclaimed album, Rise & Fall, of which he served as a co-writer on 12 of the 13 tracks. The project’s first single, “Cab in a Solo,” recently became his sixth No. 1 hit.

Acoustic Version Of ‘Fall Of Summer’ Out Now

Shortly after releasing the music video, the American Idol alum dropped an acoustic version of “Fall of Summer.” This rendition allows listeners to truly hone in on the story at hand, while McCreery’s silky vocals are illumined by the steady strum of acoustic instruments playing in the background. This follows the “Fall of Summer (NC State Version),” which was unveiled due to popular demand.

“There’s something about the vibe of ‘Fall of Summer’ that lends itself to an acoustic version,” he shared in a recent press release. “It brings an even more intimate feel to this wistful look back at a past summer love. Hope everyone enjoys it.”
