Newlyweds Carly Pearce and Michael Ray embraced the spirit of the holiday season on Thanksgiving Day by befriending a stranger who was eating alone at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

The couple, who had just returned to Nashville after visiting Ray’s family in Florida, decided to stop at Cracker Barrel to grab a late Turkey Day dinner when they noticed an older gentleman eating by himself nearby. They invited him to join them, and according to Pearce’s Facebook post, ended up closing down the restaurant after listening to him share stories “about his 89 years of life.”

Pearce and Ray even grabbed a few photos with their new friend Bill and shared them on social media.

“Thank you God for all the blessings and for my sweet husband who loves these moments as much as I do,” the songstress captioned the sweet snaps. “My heart is so full.”

Ray also shared a social media post about their special Thanksgiving meal.

“We saw him sitting alone and asked if he would like to sit and have thanksgiving dinner with us not knowing the blessing he was going to be,” he wrote. “We sat and for 4hrs listened to Bills 89 year story learned about his 4 years servicing in the army and about his wife Alice that passed away 2 years ago and how they met and the life that they lived, learned about his love of books, the stars and classical music and so many other incredible things until we looked around and he said I think we are the only ones here haha.”

The singer continued his post, revealing even more details about their new friend.

“Bill eats slow, drinks his coffee black and loves ham a lot more than turkey, puts a cup holder over his coffee to keep it hot for longer and doesn’t like that AT&T keeps getting more and more expensive. He knows a little about a lot of things but I don’t think he knows how much this meant to CP and I. We cherished every sec and let him just talk. He put so much in perspective for us both.”

The “Her World Or Mine” singer and his bride already have plans to meet back up with Bill for dinner in January.

Carly Pearce and Michael Ray wed on October 6 on a farm just north of Nashville. They delayed their honeymoon due to their busy schedules, but plan to head south come December to enjoy some time at a beach in Jamaica.
