Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s July 3 wedding was all about friends and family, so it’s no surprise that the couple asked of of their best friends, Carson Daly, to marry them.
Daly, longtime The Voice host and TODAY show correspondent, revealed that he served as the officiant for the wedding on Tuesday morning and dished a few more details about the couple’s big day.
“It was incredible to be part of such an important moment in their lives,” Daly gushed. “The best way to describe it is it was perfectly them — the whole weekend and the marriage itself. It was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is, and it was as country and down-home and fun as Blake is.”

He went on to describe the Shelton/Stefani wedding as “a perfect blend of country and glamour” and shared how their differences make them work.
“They’re like if you pair delicious fried chicken with a glass of champagne,” Daly explained. “On paper and on the menu it doesn’t seem to work, but it works. It’s comfort food with class. And everybody roots for that.”
Daly said that he worked with his fellow The Voice cohorts for months to ensure that their ceremony was exactly the way they envisioned. He also revealed that Shelton and Stefani wrote their own vows and that the country superstar sang his vows to his bride.
Daly shared a few photos from the wedding on social media, writing, “Here comes the bride…so honored to get to marry two of my favorite people on earth. May God bless you guys in this new chapter of your lives. We love you!”
The TODAY show also shared snapshots from the Oklahoma soiree, including stunning photos of them dancing at the ceremony.

Daly, who has been friends with Stefani for over 25 years, once told Stefani not to date Shelton. They reminisced on that moment earlier this year on NBC’s TODAY Show.
“Five years ago, when you started to date Blake, you’ll remember this, we went back to your house, your old house in LA, and I sat you and Blake down in the kitchen,” Daly reminded her.
“And I said, ‘You guys, pump the brakes. This is not good. This is not going to work.’ And I looked at Gwen, and I said, ‘You’re much, much too good for this guy. You’re smart. You’re intelligent. You’re one of my oldest friends. And then there’s Blake,’” he quipped, evoking laughter from Stefani and TODAY anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie.
Thankfully for Stefani and Shelton, they ignored Daly’s advice.
“He’s one of the most generous human beings and down-to-earth. It almost sounds generic, but it’s just so true,” Stefani shared at the time.

Blake and Gwen said “I do” on Saturday, July 3 at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch in a chapel he reportedly built just for her.
Shelton proposed to Stefani in October of 2020 after a five-year long relationship. They first met in 2014 while on the set of NBC’s The Voice. The pair became a couple in 2015 and officially confirmed their romance at the 2015 CMA Awards. Since then, they have virtually been inseparable.
