Chase Wright takes his honest songwriting to new heights with his brand new single, “Burn It All Down.”
Tapping into the real-life turmoil he endured while getting out of a toxic relationship, Wright lends a set of raw emotions to the story of a love gone bad. He knows there’s no turning back or fixing things, so he wants to watch all the memories and heartache go up in flames.
“I wanted to do something that I haven’t done before,” Wright told Country Now. “I feel like I just got out of a pretty toxic relationship, and I wanted to write something that was essentially just saying that I don’t want there to be anything left to come back to. I don’t ever want to revisit what we had ever, ever again. And I thought the image of ‘Burn It All Down’ was cool.”

The intensity of the scorching tune gets hotter with every note as Wright shows off his powerhouse vocals. He’s responsible for bringing this tune to life alongside co-writers, Halle Herrick, Gigi Rich and Sidney Qubit. While it was originally set to be named after the final line of the chorus, “No Good For Us,” the singer/songwriter felt that title didn’t capture the energy he was feeling in this song.
“I didn’t feel like that hit the same. If I’m looking at that title, I don’t understand what the song’s about really, or the emotion behind it. So the top of the chorus has the line, so ‘let’s burn it all down.’ And I was like, that feels to me much more representative of the emotion behind this,” he explained. “And I just thought the flames, the burning, you just have so much imagery with that title. And so that’s sort of how that came to be.”
Ever since the Indiana native started writing his own music, he’s made it his mission to impact people in a positive way. “Burn It All Down” portrays that raw relatability that his fans connect to so well, allowing them to feel like they’re not alone in their experiences. He also hopes that by sharing his real story and showing that he was able to come out of the other side, that others will feel empowered to step away from their own toxic situation.
“I feel like this song is to give people the confidence to leave and leave for good. Don’t leave anything to come back to because there’s reason that you’re walking away in the first place,” he shared. “And I think that’s really hard to see sometimes when you get out of something that maybe you’ve been in for a while. But logically I’ve always thought about when you break up or when you move on from something, there’s a reason that you’re moving on from it. And so let’s keep that in mind and burn it all down and don’t come back to nothing.”
That same sentiment lives through his previous release, “It Was Always You,” and sets the tone for his next project. In order for him to move on, it’s important to get any lingering emotions out and music has acted as his form of therapy by allowing him to say what’s on his mind.
You won’t find many party anthems or feel-good tunes in Wright’s catalog and that’s no accident. Whether its heartbreak, loss or even love, Wright has always spoken from the heart and in doing so, has accumulated a long list of fans who he has helped through music.
“Fans come up to me all the time and talk about how various songs help them through really hard things, which when I’m writing the music, that’s not what I’m thinking about. I’m just thinking about, this is my truth, I need to say it so I can get it off my chest and move on,” he said. “But the fact that that’s sort of a by product of me being honest I think is awesome and all that I’ve really set out to do since I’ve started doing this. My main goal is just to write songs that impact people.”
His latest releases mark the first taste of the new chapter that Wright deems to be some of his best work yet. He revealed he is still finishing up the writing process but has completed about 80% of the songs for his next project. There will be plenty more heartbreak tracks with a few empowering and joyful songs sprinkled in between.
“I feel like just because I have something so real to write about and I’m so passionate about it and I found a group of writers now that I’m on my third project that I really love to work with. I feel like the process has just gotten so much better for me. And so this project, I’m so fired up about. It’s going to have a very common theme of this breakup, moving on, but also there’s elements in there of joy too. Yeah, it was tough and it was hard and you learned a lot from it, but also where I’m at now, because all of this happened 15 months ago, it is where I’m at now.”
Wright continued, “I think mostly the project is very breakup, album focused. we’re just going to continue to roll out singles every couple months for the rest of the year, which I’m super fired up about. And the music’s the best that I’ve ever done and I can’t wait for it to finally be out.”
This project will follow his sophomore album LETTING GO which was unveiled on September 6, 2024. While working on these songs and enjoying a break from the road, Chase right has used these past few months to soak up memories with his two-year-old son, Asher.
