A beautiful love story comes to life in Darius Rucker’s just-released “My Masterpiece” music video.
The black and white clip follows a couple’s encounter on the beach. As the romantic lyrics unfold, the lovers make their way around the stunning oceanside scene soaking up all of their precious time together.
Performance scenes of Rucker are interspersed throughout the clip as well.
“The song is about a guy who really just wants to be known for the tremendous amount of love he has for this woman, and I think that’s beautiful,” shares Rucker. “During a tough time like this past year has been, I think upbeat songs like this are important because they remind people that even when things are tough, there’s also a lot of good in life and good in the world. I hope people enjoy this song as much as I do, and I hope they enjoy seeing it come to life in the music video.”
“My Masterpiece” was co-written by Rucker, Josh Osborne, J.T. Harding and Ross Copperman. The song, along with Rucker’s 10th No.1 single, “Beers and Sunshine,” will appear on the superstar’s forthcoming studio album.
“I was having a writing session with the same guys I wrote “Beers and Sunshine” with, and they were talking about just, well, I think it was John that said he heard me on a radio station talking about what I was doing… I said I was trying to learn to play piano and they asked if I could play, and I said, ‘I can’t play like Ray Charles.’ And that just stuck in his head and that was the idea that he had,” Rucker recalls of writing the song. “And we went in, and it was another one of those songs that really, with when you think about all of the great masterpieces in the world, it was great to write that song and come up with another song that I love.”
