DEMPS back in full force with her brand-new song, “Boy Bye,” a fierce, self-empowerment anthem that speaks directly to all her fellow certified lover girls who are “forced to be an independent woman.”
The emerging singer/songwriter admits she’s had her fair share of messy breakups and situationships, but this upbeat track proves that she’s tired of giving her heart to men who don’t treat her how she deserves. So instead of letting their toxic tendencies continue to weigh on her, she is reclaiming her power.

DEMPS, whose real name is Kaitlynn “Katie” Dempsey, penned the new tune with Caitlynne Curtis and Brooke Thompson. Her twangy vocals are put on full display while letting the no good guy know that while he had her under his spell at the start, she’s finally seeing his red flags clear as day.
She also makes sure to let him know that she will be better off without his “Inconsistency” and immaturity while tackling the chorus, “Boy Bye, I’m not your drunken nights/ Don’t lie, You know you ain’t 6’5”/ Not my concern, got lessons to learn and bridges to burn, so hand me that lie/ Boy Bye/ And Imma be just fine.”
With these catchy lyrics, she’s not only tapping into her real-life experiences but also sending a clear message to any fans who can relate to this song that they need to “Stop giving men chances after chances if they showed their true colors the first time they will never change… BOY BYE.”
She goes on to tell Country Now that the inspiration behind this message came from her young daughter.
“I was driving home one day from a date night with my daughter and I remember this previous guy I used to talk to you kept blowing me up for one thing and one thing only, sending me Snapchat after Snapchat and at this point, I was just fed up with it because I just went through a terrible break up and my daughter literally said ‘boy bye’ in the backseat of the car and that’s how ‘Boy Bye’ all started.”
Those two words got DEMPS’ creative wheels turning, and she found herself reflecting on all the pain she’s felt from past relationships and discovered a newfound desire to put an end to it.
“I think it leads up to a lot of things. When you were born to be a lover girl, but forced to be an independent woman and knowing your values on what you deserve…It’s so exhausting explaining the same thing over and over to someone that you once loved. I took all those emotions and wrote about it,” she added.
The Plant City, FL native brought her fiery spirit into the “Boy Bye” music video combines clips of her jamming out to the track on a cassette tape and at the bar and letting her frustrations out in a rage room.
“My girl Graci has been by my side for years helping me film my song promos on TikTok. We had so much fun filming this one. I wanted to show the aggression, so we went to the rage room in Nashville and who knew a rage room was such a great therapy?” she joked.
“Boy Bye” joins the growing list of songs from DEMPS that has been catching fans attention and leaving them wanting more. With songs like “B**ch On Wine,” “Who’s Who” and “Rough Cut Diamond” continuing to gain traction on streaming platforms, the songstress admits more new music is on the way. She teased that she has “never been more focused” on her songwriting and is excited to use her passion for storytelling as a way to express her emotions in a way she’s never been able to do before.
“I hope no one ever gets a hold of my voice memos or my notes or my trauma diary. I’m having so much fun lately just putting everything out into words. I was never really good at expressing my emotions to strangers and I feel like this is the best way for my followers,” she explained. “After years of following me they can hear the emotion that I’m going through.”
DEMPS is currently making her way from stage to stage across Nashville and will also be performing at the Glowdeo in Austin, TX on May 17.
