Billy Ray Cyrus and his fiancée Firerose made an appearance on Good Morning America to showcase their new single, “Plans,” and also express their deep affection for each other.
The Australian songstress, 34, donned an all-red ensemble equipped with fringe and sequins as she belted out the heartfelt tune alongside her duet partner. In addition to Cyrus’ whispered baritone vocals and the strums of his guitar, the performance also featured several New York Youth Symphony members as well as “Plans” producer Justin Morgan on guitar.
“Have you got plans for forever / Do you have ’til the end of time free / Have you got plans for forever / Do you wanna make them with me / ‘Cuz I swear there’s nothing else I’d rather do / Than plan the rest of my life with you,” they delivered on the chorus.

Following their glowing performance, Firerose expressed nothing but gratitude for getting the chance to record the song that was penned solely by two-time Golden Globe winner and 14-time Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren.
“Diane actually DM’d me and said, ‘would you like to do a song?’ and I’m like…’yeah, I would love nothing more,’” she explained before adding, “She was a tremendous inspiration to me, to follow my songwriting it was a dream come true and when she sent ‘Plans,’ it was meant to be.”

The couple, who are 28 years apart in age, went on to share a few heartfelt words about each other ahead of their upcoming nuptials. When asked what life has been like since entering the world of Billy Ray Cyrus, Firerose responded, “It has been a beautiful whirlwind and I’m just so grateful that I get to live my dreams every day with the love of my life.”
Cyrus, 62, added that the two of them go together like “peanut butter and jelly” because of how well their differing musical backgrounds have come together to create such beauty.

Duet Out Now
“Plans” finds the artists celebrating their love for one another as they anticipate spending the rest of their lives together and falling in love over and over again in the process. Cyrus’ baritone vocals blend effortlessly with his other half while their harmonies dance together around the haunting instrumentals.
Cyrus and the critically acclaimed songstress dropped their powerful duet on August 11 via Kind Music Group and premiered it live on the Grand Ole Opry Stage that evening. Since its debut at No. 29 on Mediabase’s AC Radio chart, the song has continued to rack up success among streaming and radio.
In addition to “Plans,” they have teamed up on a number of songs including the 2021 release, “New Day,” and “Time.”
The couple recently performed together during the 16th Annual Academy of Country Music Honors. The event, dubbed the “Country Music industry’s favorite night,” brings some of the top talent in country music together under one roof to celebrate their success and impact on the genre.
Billy Ray and Firerose were selected to appear in honor of the recipient for this year’s ACM Spirit Awards – the late Charlie Daniels. Together, they took the stage alongside rising star Travis Denning to perform a cover of Daniels’ “Long Haired Country Boy.”
Hosted by Carly Pearce, the 2023 ACM Honors took place on Wednesday, August 23 at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee and will premiere on September 18 at 8/7c on FOX.
How Did Billy Ray Cyrus Meet Firerose?
Since their first meeting on set of Hannah Montana, a Disney Channel series starring Billy Ray’s daughter Miley Cyrus, which launched in March 2006, the couple has continued to develop a strong bond. This led to Billy Ray and Firerose to build a lifelong friendship as they kept in touch over the years and found a common passion for music.
Following his divorce from his now ex-wife Tish Cyrus, who is the mother of four of his children, Billy Ray Cyrus began dating Firerose and proceeded to announce their engagement in the fall of 2022. Despite their 28-year age gap, the pair have seemingly found true happiness with one another.
While confirming the news of their engagement to People at the time, Billy Ray gushed about his partner as he said, “She’s the real deal.”
They also shared that the proposal took a less traditional route as there was no involvement of a ring or getting down on one knee. Instead, The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer simply popped the question in the comfort of their Tennessee farm.
“Billy looked at me and said, ‘Do you, do you wanna marry me?’ And I was just like, ‘Of course I do. I love you,’ ” Firerose explained. “He said, ‘I love you. I wanna make this official. I wanna be with you forever.’ “
Following their appearance on Good Morning America, Firerose and Billy Ray Cyrus have yet to share news of any upcoming show dates.
