Ella Langley had plenty to celebrate when she marked a set of major milestones in her career by hosting a double No. 1 party at BMI for her chart-topping hits “Weren’t For The Wind” and “Choosin’ Texas.” Surrounded by the songwriters who helped bring both tracks to life, the moment felt like a full-circle celebration of the hard work and creativity that got them there.
Before the official party kicked off, Langley sat down at Nashville’s BMI office with Country Now and other members of the media to reflect on the whirlwind of success she’s been experiencing lately. By her side were co-writers Miranda Lambert, Johnny Clawson, Joybeth Taylor, and Luke Dick.

First to soar to the top was “Weren’t For the Wind,” which appears on Still Hungover, the deluxe edition of 2024’s Hungover album. The fan-favorite single was written by Langley with Johnny Clawson and Joybeth Taylor during her time on the road as a supporting act on Jon Pardi’s 2023 Mr. Saturday Night World Tour.
The powerful storytelling that highlights the self-reflective journey of someone who is unable to stay rooted in one place for too long impacted airwaves at the top of 2025. It then steadily worked its way up to No. 19 on the Mediabase, marking her first-ever solo Top 20 hit at Country radio, and reached the No. 1 spot.

Shortly after, she earned yet another top-charting hit with “Choosin’ Texas.” This track was co-penned and produced by Langley with Miranda Lambert, alongside producer Ben West and co-writers Luke Dick and Joybeth Taylor. According to Langley this infectious tune has experienced a fast and somewhat unexpected rise since its release.
It climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time she has ever earned the top spot on the chart. With the achievement, Langley made history as the first female artist to simultaneously lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts.
Additionally, it surpassed 310 million streams worldwide, earning RIAA Platinum certification and reaching No. 1 on the U.S. Spotify Chart, Apple Music’s U.S. Songs Chart, as well as becoming the fourth country song by a female lead to top the Billboard Streaming Songs chart list in its 13-year history.
The Alabama native recalled how much they believed in “Choosin’ Texas” from the start, especially because it marked a turning point for her and Lambert. It was one of those rare moments that set the foundation for a creative partnership that is now being carried into her upcoming album, Dandelion, which Lambert co-produced. Still, none of them could have predicted just how far the song would go.
“We loved the song when we wrote it. It was the song that I think me and Miranda clicked on where it was like, all right, we’re going to work together in a bigger way, for sure. And we’ve all talked about this, we love that song, but did we think it could do something like this? I don’t know if you can predict that,” Langley shared honestly.
Lambert agreed adding, “No, absolutely not. I mean, it’s one of those … My favorite thing about it is it’s a country song and it was universal. And the music that we love got a big shot in the world and that makes me happy. It just really put a platform for a great country song and true country songwriters to have this moment that doesn’t happen that often.”
While the success of “Choosin’ Texas” may feel surreal, the CMA and ACM Award winner explained that it has further proved something she’s always believed: every song matters.
“It shows you the power of what a song can do. You think we’re just going in there and just having fun with the people we love making music with, and you don’t realize that that could be the song that changes your life forever. And so to me, this song just keeps reinforcing that, that every song matters.”

When asked how she is handling her fast rise to fam and the massive platform she has built for herself, Ella Langley admitted that taking it all in hasn’t been easy. She has been watching every dream she’s ever had come to life and even some that she never thought would be attainable, described the experience as “overwhelming” in the best way.
She continues do her best to stay grounded amid it all and keep her focus on the music and the artistry while still allowing herself to step back and soak in moments like this alongside her team.
“You ever seen an owl spin his head around a couple times? That’s exactly how it feels,” she admitted. “It’s almost overwhelming and by almost, I mean, it is extremely. It is watching all of your dreams come true at once. And for me, it’s just kind of now keeping my head down in the music and keeping my head down in the artistry and popping up for moments like this and getting to celebrate things that we’ve worked really hard for together to get here.”

After the interviews wrapped, the party unfolded with a slew of industry members. The celebration included specially curated touches like two custom cakes inspired by each No. 1, personalized cookies, and merch for guests to take home.
It’s safe to say Ella Langley’s momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon. With more writing plans already in the works between her and Lambert and her next album, Dandelion, arriving April 10, there is plenty more to look forward to from the songstress.
