Keith Urban received a surprise honor during a special conversation at Country Radio Seminar on Thursday, March 19, when he was presented with The Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award for his longtime commitment and service to the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The four-time GRAMMY winner and 14-time CMA Award recipient was recognized during a St. Jude-focused session, where iHeartCountry’s Gator Harrison sat down with him to discuss his longtime support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Following the conversation, Randy Owen of Alabama surprised Urban with the honor. St. Jude patient Faith also joined Owen onstage to help present the award.

“When we leave this world, here’s what we’re going to leave behind: what we gave, and what we didn’t give. You, my friend, are a giver. I want to present the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award to you, with all my love and respect, on behalf of the beautiful children at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” Owen shared with Urban.
“Being recognized with the Angels Among Us Award is not something I take lightly,” Urban added. “I’ve witnessed the courage shown by the children and families at St. Jude for more than 20 years, and it never ceases to amaze me. By standing together, we’ve been able to help St. Jude continue advancing research and treatment for children around the world with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is an absolute honor to stand behind a mission this meaningful.”
Keith Urban has supported St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for more than two decades, first visiting the hospital in 1998. In 2015, he was named the founding Artist Ambassador for the Connected Caring program, which brings him together with patients to share their stories and a mutual love of music. Throughout the years, Urban has taken part in numerous benefit concerts, radiothons, livestreams, marketing campaigns, a special album release, and meaningful meet-and-greets with St. Jude patients.
“Country music has a long and meaningful history of supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Keith Urban stands among our most enduring champions,” Ike Anand, President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude, stated. “We are grateful to Keith and the country music community for their continued commitment to the St. Jude mission. Thanks to the generosity of artists like Keith and Randy Owen, St. Jude is able to advance lifesaving research and treatment while also bringing moments of joy and comfort to patients and families through the power of music.”
Music Gives to St. Jude Kids® raises over $70 million each year to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in advancing research and treatment for children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The program brings together more than 350 radio and music partners to work toward this shared mission.
