Elle King, 34, is opening up about her dramatic weight loss and her bout with postpartum depression during her pregnancy and after welcoming her son, Lucky, into the world in the fall of 2021.
King detailed her weight loss journey in a candid and inspiring social media post accompanied by a video that took fans through her daily routine on tour, including her skincare regimen, soundcheck, and workouts. The singer/songwriter’s workouts include “anywhere from 180-300 reps ranging from leg lifts, Bicycles, planks, squats and lunges.”
How Much Weight Has Elle King Lost?
“Almost 2 years postpartum! I am making this post to share my journey from 284 lbs at 5’3 from pregnancy 2021 – now 2023. It doesn’t happen overnight. It didn’t even happen in a year for me. In fact, it’s an ongoing still working towards ever-changing goals kinda thing,” the “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” singer began.
While she did not reveal the exact number of pounds she lost, she shared insight into what led to her lifestyle changes. The singer cited a profound depression that started during her pregnancy and persisted through the postpartum period.
“Deep Depression”
“I fell into a very deep depression during my pregnancy. I also didn’t even realize how intense postpartum depression is and was until I very slowly began to crawl out. I felt trapped in my body. I couldn’t even sing,” she admitted before detailing her fitness journey.
“So I started slow. Metabolic workouts. Light cardio to warm up my body, my lungs, my voice, and my spirit. I am a creature of habit, so I changed my fucking habits. Every few weeks I feel my body getting stronger. I add more workouts, I exercise with @pauldominic_ who is basically a bodybuilder.”
She encouraged her followers to find exercises that they are passionate about and to get moving.
“Find music you like! Ride a bike! Go for a swim! I thought I wanted to lose weight, but it’s so much more. My BRAIN functions better on the days I move my body. Some days I count stretch marks. Some days I hug myself and say thank you to my body. Today is a kind day. I’ve been tiny, I’ve been huge, BUT RIGHT NOW I’M HEALTHY,” she proudly shared.
Not Taking Weight Loss Medication
In an effort to dispel any rumors, Elle King insisted that she is not taking any medication to aid her weight loss.
“I have PCOS and am pre-diabetic,” she revealed. “My diabetic grandfather died when I was 10 years old. I watched him prick his finger and give himself shots.”
King closed her post by promising that she won’t judge anyone for trying to “live a healthier life.”
“I can only share MY OWN JOURNEY! I just hope to live a long, wonderful, healthy life where I can drink a lot, eat fish, laugh as much as I can, and die happy🤘😇”
New Look
The clip comes after Elle King debuted a brand-new look on social media.
On Monday (Aug. 21), the “Ex’s & Oh’s” singer shared a photo on Instagram of herself donning a skin-tight black mini-dress that showcased her new fit physique, which she captioned, “surprise! #datenight.”
The snapshot also featured Elle with a new darker hair color. She previously had blonde locks.
After releasing her debut country album, Come Get Your Wife, earlier this year, Elle King is currently performing at festivals and fairs across the United States, including Bash On The Bay, the Appalachian Fair, Oregon State Fair, Bend of The River Fall Festival, First & 10 Fest, Sing Out Loud Festival, Foxfire Music & Arts Festival and more.
The hitmaker will also join Jelly Roll on select dates of his highly successful Backroad Baptism Tour, which kicked off on Friday, July 28 at Bank Plus Amphitheater in Southhaven, Mississippi and runs through Saturday, October 14.
