SiriusXM announced today (Oct. 26), that country superstar Eric Church will launch his own exclusive SiriusXM music channel, Eric Church Outsiders Radio on the SXM App.
Beginning Friday (Nov. 4), this new channel will showcase the vast catalog of songs that have been collected throughout the 10x Grammy nominee’s career of nearly two decades.
“We’re trying to be thoughtful about how we play the music and why the music matters,” Church shared in a recent release on the curation of his new channel. “This is about something that you actually go, oh, that’s cool. That, I haven’t heard that. So, chasing that pathway is what gives me excitement about what we’re trying to do here with Outsiders Radio.”
Church has withheld a longstanding relationship with SiriusXM since 2015 when he launched a monthly show called Outsiders Radio on SiriusXM’s The Highway. Outsiders Radio allowed the singer/songwriter the unique opportunity to play his current favorites as well as exclusive, never before heard music from his own archives.
“I’ve learned that there are so many different musical perspectives and performances that fall under the same theme,” Church told Billboard on what he learned from his show on SiriusXM The Highway. “We could have a themed show scripted, but through the lens of so many diverse multiple genres and artists. It’ll be fun to show how an 80-year-old blues song inspires a jazz artist, that inspires a rockabilly guitar player, who inspires a country artist. That interests me!”
The country star announced the news via social media, revealing that the exclusive channel will feature “live performances, behind-the-scenes stories, collaborations and conversations with friends.”
“I’m excited to announce that after 90+ episodes, Outsiders Radio will be launching 24/7 exclusively on SiriusXM starting Friday, November 4,” he wrote in the caption.
Outsiders Radio will take listeners through his journey that includes tracks from his 2006 debut album, Sinners Like Me, his most recent project, Heart & Soul, and just about everything that came in between.
In addition, the channel will showcase Church’s musical inspirations of rock and country through the musical stylings of artists such as George Strait, Bob Seger, Ashley McBryde, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Waylon Jennings, Aretha Franklin, Bruce Springsteen, Brandi Carlile and more.
Specially curated by Church, the original programming will include “Best of Outsiders Radio,” which is a collection of archival episodes from the “Drink In My Hand” singer’s monthly Outsiders Radio on The Highway. Listeners can also expect a monthly full concert performance from a past Church show titled, “LIVE, From the Pit.” The featured show for November will be from the Green Bay, Wisc., stop of his 2022 Gather Again Tour.
Another monthly show titled, “A Song to Sing,” will be a one-hour specialty program hosted by a songwriter who has been involved in writing some of Church’s hit songs, launching with Jeff Hyde, who served as a co-writer on his fan-favorite track, “Springsteen.” For “Insiders Hours,” monthly guest DJs with friends, fans and collaborators will join the show, beginning with Lainey Wilson, the most-nominated artist of the upcoming CMA Awards and a cast member of season 5 of the hit show, Yellowstone.
The SXM App is available to subscribers on mobile devices and a wide variety of connected platforms in the home including smart speakers, smart TVs and streaming media players. Streaming access is included with all of SiriusXM’s audio trials and most popular plans. Additionally, the channel will also be available to subscribers nationwide in the car on SiriusXM channel 61 from Nov. 4-6.
