ERNEST has teamed up with global icon Snoop Dogg for the rootsy, feel good tune, “Gettin’ Gone,” marking the first release from the newly announced DeVille Records.

After co-writing the new track with Ben Hayslip, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., Mark Holman and Rhett Akins, ERNEST was determined to meet Snoop Dogg and get his take on the song’s demo. He now credits Jelly Roll for their chance meeting as Snoop Dogg had come to Nashville to pop up at a Jelly Roll show that ERNEST was opening for.

During an interview with the “Liar” singer on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, the Nashville, TN native goes on to explain that he found his way to Snoop’s dressing room and decided to show him the “Gettin’ Gone” demo.

“We smoke and I was like, ‘can I show you a song I just wrote?’ I wasn’t even pitching him a song…wasn’t even Bluetooth. I was like, put this to your ear.”

This moment was captured on video and eventually shared to ERNEST’s Instagram. Viewers see the pair “catching a vibe smoking” and jamming to the tune. Even though this was their first time meeting, Snoop was quickly impressed by ERNEST’s talent and asked to hear the song a second time.

“He was like, ‘I need your number. Send me that s**t.’ And So he just lived with it for a couple of weeks. I sent him a video from The Cadillac Sessions when we were shooting and it was video of my Coup Deville pulling up in the drive and it had that song behind it. So I was just showing him the car and he was like, ‘I need that record.’ And I was like, ‘I’m launching this label, but do you want a verse?’ And he goes, ‘💙 💙 🔥 🐾 🐾’ And I took that as a yes. I took that as a yes,” ERNEST said with a laugh. “I sent him the session, like three days later he sent me back his verses.”

With the addition of Snoop’s iconic, laid-back vocals, the song was taken to the next level. Listening to the storyline closely, it almost feels as if it’s chronicling a twang-fueled fever dream with heavy doses of true southern soul mixed with psychedelic tales of a “voodoo queen,” a gypsy and healing frog venom. ERNEST blends his signature front porch country sound with Snoop’s laid-back charm to create a swampy groove that finds the pair unraveling the journey of a hazy trip through the bayou.

The artists come together on the chorus that’s just as catchy as it is chaotic. They sing, “Oopsy Daisy, goin’ half crazy/ Whatcha say baby ‘bout a little rendezvous/ Hey, and it won’t be long ‘til they’re singin’ that song/ ‘Bout gettin’ half gone/ Hey baby, do you wanna go too?”

The fresh release is accompanied by an offcial music video produced by Dustin Haney that captures Snoop and the 3X CMA Triple Play winning artist in his beloved Cadillac DeVille driving around Nashville. In between their mid-day drive down backroads and Broadway, they are also featured in a series of fisheye clips filmed outside of Castle Recording Studios.

“Gettin’ Gone” follows the launch of ERNEST’s own label, DeVille Records, in a joint venture with Big Loud Records. It also gives listeners a taste of the inaugural DeVille Records EP, Cadillac Sessions.

The new business venture, named after ERNEST’s beloved 1975 Coupe DeVille, was created as a way to help budding artists build lasting careers while honing in on their personal songwriting craft in a collaborative and creative environment.

The first signings to the new label’s roster – Chandler Walters, Rhys Rutherford and Cody Lohden – are set to appear on the  mixtape-style project. These budding artists, along with some superstar guests like Miranda Lambert, Jake Worthington and more, will appear throughout the track list featuring two new originals, one cover and a few cuts from ERNEST’s vault. This collection of tunes set to honor the beloved ‘90s era of country music with a modern twist will be unveiled May 9.

Production was done at Nashville’s Castle Recording Studios that appears in the “Gettin’ Gone” music video as well as throughout the project’s documentary series.

ERNEST will bring his new music on the road in 2025 as he prepares to serve as direct support for Lainey Wilson and Old Dominion.
